Jack and Shareen stood by Jack's locker, whispering to each other as other people passed, having no clue what was going on, or not really caring.
"How do we get this whole plan in action?" Jack asked Shareen
"Well, first, we give it a bit of time. We'll call it the Grace Period, and it'll be a month, starting today. Today is the 6th of June, so the 6th of July we call time in this part. This will be to allow John and Rose to get closer, y'know? And us too, considering we're now friends by proxy and we've got to make sure he isn't a murderous psychopath, like all good friends do. And they've only been friends for a month, give or take, so we've got to allow more time to make sure they're still friends and things are going smoothly. So, then, after this Grace Period, we turn up the heat" Shareen said, and smiled wider
"Turn up the heat, meaning?" Jack questioned
"You know exactly what I mean. Leave it there" Shareen nudged Jack in the ribs
"Ouch!" he exclaimed
"Stop whining. Now, the next part of this plan will involve the social-"
"What plan?"
Rose stood in front of the pair, looking curious.
"Um, we'll explain later. Let's get lunch, yeah?" Jack said, diffusing the tension.
"Okay, if you say so. Let's go. If you don't mind, John'll probably sit with us" Rose said
"That's cool"
"Yeah, okay"
The trio walked, happily chatting away in the corridor, into the cafeteria, which looked quite desolate compared to the everyday rush commonly witnessed.
"Hm, wonder were everyone's run to?" Rose asked, looking around
"I don't know, but I don't care. More room for us" Jack casually stated
Rose then saw John coming from one of the tables to greet them
"Hey guys, were are we sitting?" John asked
"I don't know, we just got here ourselves. Anywhere, I suppose" Rose told John indifferently
"Okay"
Jack ended up leading the way to a table in a secluded corner of the cafeteria
"So, then, what's been going on?"
"Nothing much really, 'cept for Rose, of course, and you guys. That's it. Well, I suppose I've done other things, but not incredibly noteworthy" John chuckled
"I'm sure there's something there that's gotta be good" Shareen said
"Um, well, books and astronomy might be the only things vaguely interesting about me"
"Vaguely? Man, that's awesome!" Jack said in surprise
"Thanks, no one's ever taken that much interest in it though. I commonly find myself the only one in a planetarium"
"Why do you like astronomy? I mean, it's such an odd field, I'm curious" Rose asked
"Because, it has nothing to do with what's here. Which last time I checked, was some sort of mess"
The table fell into silence
"Wow, that was deep" Shareen said, beginning to laugh
And the rest of the table did too
