20. A present for me

It's April 21 and it's my birthday. I'm gonna be 18 now wow, this is kinda scary. It's just a number sure but, I'm officially an adult and no longer a child. I can't decide whether I should be excited or sad in this situation. There isn't any school today thank goodness for that. I don't know if I had enough energy for that today.

I walk out of room with my messy bun and Mickey Mouse pajamas, It's a look I know. Oh not to mention my totally nasty morning breath and crusty eyes. Definitely Birthday ready for sure, there isn't anything special important planned today. I walk out to the kitchen and notice if was pitch black, the curtains were closed and the lights were off. What the hell?

The lights flickered on and the curtains pulled open. "SURPRISE!" I look around the now lit up room and take a look at everyone here. My cousins, aunts, uncles, mom, Jenny, Caleb and Liam. I put my hand over my mouth and a tear slips out. They did this for me oh my god.

I was about to hug everyone here and I saw Liam looking at me up and down. A blush rises to my cheeks and I remember I look like a mess.
I give out a nervous chuckle and lopsided smile. "Let me get ready real quick." I tell everyone there and I turn to look at my mom and mouth thank you. She smiled sweetly at me in return.

Once I got changed into this simple red dress that reached my just a little above my knee I walked back out. "Hey best friend Happy Birthday!" Caleb yells to me. Jenny shoots him a glare then turning to me with a smile. "She's my best friend and happy Birthday L!" She says and I chuckle at their behavior. "Who did all of this?" I asked. "Your mom she worked hard to put all of this together and invite your friends and family." Jenny says to me. I take a look at Liam and saw that he was staring at me. Did I have drool on my face? I was about to ask him what he was staring at but he walked up to me and put his lips to my ear. "You look sexy in red, oh and happy birthday kitten." He whispered to me before walking away. My mouth was hanging open with a look of disbelief but also feeling extremely flustered.

"What did he say?" Jenny asked with confusion. "He just said happy birthday." I told her simply. She looked like she didn't believe me but didn't say anything about it. "Time for Cake!" Caleb yelled and everybody gathered around the table all looking at me. I walk over to the chair and have a seat with a permanent smile plastered on my face. My mom came over and lit the candles on the cake and as I was about to blow them out someone stopped me. "We have to sing happy birthday first." No surprise it was Caleb who said it. I totally forgot about the part where they sang happy Birthday to me. It's been so long, it's funny today I officially become an adult, yet right now I feel like a goofy 8 year old excited to blow out her candles. They sing me the song and once it ends someone yells out make a wish.

I wish to have many more great moments like these. Then I blow them out all 18 of them. Cheers and claps were heard all around. Right after everyone had a slice of cake or if they had 4 slices, Caleb. Then we all talked a little, danced and played pin the tail on the donkey. It was finally time for presents and I was ecstatic. I didn't need all of this but it meant a lot that these people came here for me. I opened all of my family presents first then my friends. Fist one was Caleb's he got me a notebook that said. For all your ideas that are going to be so Fetch. I laughed, of course he got me this. Next was Jenny and she got me all the high school musical movies plus a bunch of perfume and lotion. Last was Liam he gave me a small box and I opened it to find a beautiful necklace. It was a silver chain with a sun pendant but the middle of the sun was this gorgeous ocean blue. I looked at the box it came in and saw it was from pandora.

This must have cost him a lot why would he get this for me. I look up to look at him and he had a smile on his face. "Oh my honey that's darling." My mom said and everyone agreed. "Thank you everyone for all of this I had a blast." I tell everyone and I take the necklace out and try to put it on. "Here I'll help." Liam grabs the thing and places it in my neck. "Your second present will come later." He whispers softly to me and nobody but me hears. Soon later everyone leaves including Jenny and Caleb. It was just Liam and me left, since my mom said she had to go and leave for the airport because she still had two weeks left for work Liam and I ,we were all alone.

"So.. what was that second present you told me about?" I asked him and he smirked in return. "Impatient aren't we." I scoffed "No I'm just curious as to if I would actually like it or not." I tell him. "Oh I'm sure you will." He steps closer until our faces our mere inches apart. He gets even closer till our noses touch and I don't make a move. Finally he closes the gap between us and puts his lips on mine and I feel as though there are a million fireworks blowing up inside of me. His lips were soft and Our lips move in sync and his hands roam everywhere. I run my hands through his hair and I never want to pull away, but we had to. We pull apart and pant as if we just ran a marathon. Our faces flushed and I ache for more of him, I reach out to touch his face. "That's all kitten." He puts my hand down and I feel as though I'm falling for him. To hell with this stupid bet we made. I don't want to do this anymore.

"I want you." I tell him truthfully. He gives me a sad look and gently moves my hair out of my face. "And I want you but we can't be together." Tears start to come out of my eyes. He was confusing the hell out of me. "Then why did you fucking kiss me!" I shout. "I don't know." He whispers to me. "Are you serious, do you think you can just up and kiss me and not expect me to want something more!?" I was hitting him on his chest crying but then he grabs a hold of my wrist. "I want something more with you too!" I look up at him ready to say something but he beats me to it. "But we can't be together I'm no good for you, I don't want you to have to be with a fuck up like me!"

"I don't care!" I grab out for him but he pushes me away. "I'm sorry." He says softly and then he too walks out my door and leaves me alone. I can't believe him, how can he be such an asshole. Except no matter what he does I still find myself wanting to be closer to him. Everything started out alright and then he just had to ruin it.

I hate him, but at the same time I don't.
