CHAPTER 6
I woke up and the bedside clock told me that it's already 10 AM.
Late na ko! I grabbed my phone and checked bakit hindi sya nag-alarm. Sunday nga pala. Then, I also remembered I switched my phone off. With a sigh, I switched it on. Tapos nilapag ko muna sya while it loaded and closed my eyes again. Medyo mahapdi pa sa kakaiyak ko kagabe. And I don't really need a mirror to tell me how swollen it is.
With a sigh, I picked up my phone again.
Grabe sobrang daming notifications both from Facebook and Twitter! There were also several messages from my friends and what seemed to be a hundred text messages from Mike. Hindi ko muna binuksan because it will surely trigger another crying spree. I just scrolled through them and was shocked when there were several texts from my mom.
Tinatanong niya bakit hindi daw ako macontact. She was also asking if I've already packed for our stay in Vegas. One of my cousins is getting married and we're attending the wedding. My mom also reminded me to go find my cousin a gift.
Yeah. Another thing I fucking forgot.
Di bale, next weekend pa naman yun. I still have plenty of time. I rose from the bed and rubbed my eyes. Oras na para simulan ang araw ko. I'll just go to the mall today and find a gift for my cousin's wedding. Then later, I'll start packing. For sure magiging busy ako this week sa school kasi I'll need to catch up on everything. One week din ako mawawala sa class so I'll have to concentrate.
And then maybe later tonight, I'll call Reeve. I guess I'll tell him that he was right about Mike all along: he really was no good. Reeve tried to warn me against Mike pero ang tigas ng ulo ko eh. Hindi ako nakinig. And now, I found out the hard way na tama siya.
My phone rang and I went back to pick it up.
"Hello?"
"Andreia!" It was Aubrey. I slumped back on the bed and held the phone against my ear.
"Walanghiya talaga yung Mike na yun! Anyway, punta kami diyan. We're on our way and we brought heartbreak remedies."
"Heartbreak remedies?"
"Yep! Pizza, Burgers, Pasta, Tig-iisa tayong tub ng ice cream, madaming chips at isang bote ng Nutella," Aubrey replied.
"Coz fuck being weight conscious when someone's broken hearted!" I heard Ellie shout from the background.
I heard MC and Aubrey laugh. Just like that, it felt as if a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I found myself smiling.
"Tip #1 for the broken-hearted, you should never be alone. Sige Drei, lapit na kami. See you!" Aubrey said. She ended the call and I placed my phone on the bedside table. I went to the bathroom and showered as quickly as I could. Ayokong makita ako ng friends ko ng ganito. I know they'll understand naman but it's still a pride thing.
The moment I got out of the shower, nagring na yung doorbell.
I opened the door and my friends all rushed in to hug me. Hindi naman ako naiiyak that time pero nung naramdaman ko yung hugs nila, tumulo nanaman yung luha ko. Bakit ba kapag niyayakap ka or sinasabihang wag ka na umiyak eh lalo ka lang naiiyak?
"Let's cry later, dudes. Breakfast muna," Ellie said. She shook the plastic bag she brought and I noticed that it was from my favourite pasta place. Lalo nanaman ako naluha at how thoughtful my friends are.
