Saturday, 9:15 am
Ben didn't have rehearsal today, so he invited me over. I stripped out of my pajamas and took a quick shower. I put on a pair of black leggings, an old band tee, and a matching bra/pantie set (hey, you never know). Throwing on my maroon vans and spending about 15 minutes perfecting a messy bun, I was out the door.
I arrived at Ben's house around 10:00. He looked super comfortable in grey sweats and a black hoodie. He immediately wrapped me in a hug and kissed my forehead.
"Hey babe," he said, laying his head atop of mine.
"Hey" we walked into his living room, plopping down on the couch.
"So....anything you were thinking about doing?" I asked, facing my boyfriend of 2 months, 3 weeks, and 6 days (not that anyone's counting or anything).
"No, not really. I just wanted to see you."
My heart fluttered as he picked up my hand and kissed it. It was like I was living in a romance novel or something! We ended up just watching tv, and obviously, I ended up drifting off. My head laid on Bens lap as he played with my hair and rubbed my back. At around 4:30, Ben woke me up. He had gotten dressed up, another very flattering button up and navy slacks. He handed me a bag.
"Go get dressed." His voice asserted dominance and he finished his command with a wink.
Inside the bag was an absolutely stunning navy cocktail dress. I threw it on and walked out of the room. Ben was turned around, fiddling with his watch.
"Bathroom has makeup and hair stuff. I have a surprise"
I headed down the hall and was greeted with a black basket with 2 different curling irons, a straightener, hairdryer, and tons of bobby pins. I created a curled updo in about 30 minutes and stuck with a no-makeup makeup look.
"You are absolutely beautiful," Ben said, walking into the bathroom and moving his hands to my waist. It was around 6:00 now, and I assumed it was about time to leave.
We got out to Bens car, where a silver clutch was waiting in the passenger seat. We backed out of the garage, myself wondering where we were going and Ben humming and tapping on the steering wheel.
"You didn't have to spend all this money on me, you know"
"Trust me, I know"
We ultimately arrived at Union Square Ballroom,
27 Union Sq W. Ben revealed we were attending a gala. We ate at the nearby Gotham City Restaurant for dinner as the gala didn't begin until 9 pm.
After the scrumptious dinner (and dessert), we walked to the ballroom. I immediately recognized many of the cast members of newsies, Andrew, Jeremy, even Tommy Bracco was in attendance.
"Hey guys, this is my girlfriend, y/n. Y/n, this is Andrew"
It took me by surprise when he introduced me as his girlfriend. His official partner. I don't know why, but it stunned me for a minute.
"I remember. You guys did an amazing job, I'm still stunned by the performance" I said, truly in awe of Andrew and his fiancé Scott.
"Yeah, you were one of the VIPs! Offstage Ben wouldn't sto-"
"Alright, that's enough Andrew. Let's go see some other people, shall we?" Ben said, interrupting the, what I can only assume to be, an embarrassing story for Ben.
We made our way around the ballroom, meeting some more of Bens friends and castmates. I have never shaken so many hands in my life! Eventually, the true gala part of this event began. The fundraiser was introduced, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and they started to take donations. Music began to play and couples were dancing.
