2 things Ben and I have learned through our engagement:
1) I'm hella annoying when I'm stressed out, but who didn't already know that and
2) Wedding planning is extremely difficult and expensive.
"Let's have a fall wedding," Ben calls from the bedroom. We've been talking about when for months now.
"Are you kidding? There's no telling what things will be like. I really think late August or early September is best, Ben"
We have gotten in more arguments in the past week than in our first 3 months of dating COMBINED. Yeah, we hired a wedding planner to help but most of the decisions were ours. I was searching all over the house for the little blue binder I've had since I was a kid, filled with ideas for my dream house and wedding. I was hoping to draw inspiration from it. Next thing I knew, Ben was behind me.
"Hem hem, looking for something?" Lo and behold, he was waving the binder in the air.
"Give it here!" I laughed, jumping up in an attempt to reach the binder.
"Hey. I want to go do something, Y/N. The night is still young you know."
"What do you have in mind? I really don't want to have to put on a fancy dress or anything right now."
"Then don't. Go get changed into something comfortable. Sweatpants, grab one of my hoodies, and we will be on our way."
Ben pulled me closer to him with each word, his voice getting quieter and more seductive as his sentence ran on. Soon we were face-to-face, and one of us was blushing (hint: it was me).
"Okay," I let out a series of giggles. I can only imagine I sounded like a middle school girl when her crush asked her out. Ben tried his hardest to keep from laughing at me.

I threw on some black leggings, my fiancés green sweatshirt, and put my hair up into a high ponytail. I walked out of the bedroom and to Bens car.
About 10 minutes later, we were pulled over at the overpass. The cement bridge looked surprisingly beautiful against the pink-toned sky. The river was lightly crashing against the banks, and the sound of cars in the New York City streets created a cozy atmosphere. You cant be comfortable in NYC when there's a lack of noise. Ben began to exit the car and run to the trunk. He pulled out a picnic basket and a couple blankets and pillows. I stayed in the car as he laid them out on the grass near the river bank. He sat down facing the car and held up a bottle of wine and wine glasses. I laughed and walked over towards him.
"How nice of you to join me. Can I get you some..."
He picked up the bottle to read the label.
"Rose Piscine?" We laughed at his butchering of the pronunciation. He poured me a glass and handed it to me.
"Oh god. No. This is terrible" I dumped the drink from my glass.
"It was also $13" Ben continued to sip on the abomination they called wine as we laughed more.
He held me in his arms, silence among us as we looked over the river. It was comfortable, like most of the things we do. He ran his fingers through my hair, making me almost fall asleep.
"Hey, I have a secret," he said quietly, the first noise heard from either of us in probably 20 minutes. I turned to face him, worried about what it might be.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
"Well....what is it?"
"I have a crush on you"
I plucked grass from my side and threw it at him, jokingly of course.
"You asshole! I was worried!"
"I was too, Y/N! How was I supposed to know how you were going to react to me expressing my undying love for you?" He began to laugh harder, bringing a smile to my face.
"Um... Hello?" I held up my hand, showing off the gorgeous ring he had gotten me.
"Oh! That's right, we're getting married!" He joked before pulling me into a kiss.
"Eww. My mom said I'm not supposed to kiss boys"
"Oh screw you" Ben chuckled, throwing grass at me as I did to him.

We were on our way back home, the sky had turned almost pitch black and the night grew colder with each passing minute.
"Are you a little more relaxed now y/n? You were really stressed out over the wedding."
"Yeah, I guess you could say that. Thank you, Ben. A lot."
"Hey, anytime! Just don't tell that boyfriend of yours"
"You are soooo lucky that there's no grass around"
My eyes were practically shut as we pulled into the driveway. It had been a long day, followed by a perfect night. Ben helped me out of the car, grabbing my hand and walking me to the door. I climbed into our bed, completely shutting down. It definitely helped that beside me was my fiancé (it feels great to say that by the way) humming show tunes and playing with my hair. I could've stayed like that forever.

*knock knock knock*
"Room service" Ben walked in with a tray of food for the both of us and the basket of materials we needed to plan the wedding. I sat up and took the breakfast from his hands, starting to devour the bacon and eggs he had made.
"Okay, let's see here. We really need to decide on a day."
"Do we really have to plan right now? In the words of your co-star Racetrack Higgins, 'Can you stow the seriosity long enough to just drink at the moment? I'm EATING!' "
"You're right, you're right. But we will decide on a date by tonight. We cant take to long or the planner will kill us."
I knew he was right. At this point I just want to be married, I don't really care when. The only real reason I want to do it early September is because I don't think I can wait until October to finally call him my husband and have it be official.
After about an hour of me slowly eating to delay the process, I had finished every last crumb and every drop of coffee. Ben pulled out a notebook, with a few random dates are written down. Suddenly, I realized they weren't random at all.
