Authors note: i dont usually put ANs in the chapters but i felt like i should warn you that this chapter is pretty boring and if there was ever a chapter for you to skip, make it this one. Also giving my editor a break so this may be a bit of a rough read lol.

We got back to our house house around 4:00 am. Ben carried me in the door, the way you'd see in movies. In high school I thought everyone "did it" on their wedding night, but we did not. As soon as we got to our room, we got changed. Not into anything sexy or anything, no no no, we are talking sweat pants and hoodies. For our honeymoon, we decided on a 2 week long roadtrip around the country followed by a week in the Dominican Republic. After getting into our comfy clothes, we headed to the airport with our luggage. We were going to fly over to Washington DC to start the trip, which also gave us time to sleep before getting on the road.

"Y/N, you ready to go?" Ben said, walking back in the bedroom with our passports in hand.

"Yeah, give me a minute. Go ahead and start the car."

I hung to white dress on the custom hanger my mother-in-law gave me. It was a gorgeous gold wire that said "Mrs.Fankhauser" across the middle. I put the shoes, garter, and the veil and hairpiece in a sparkly gold box in the top of my closet. I took a deep breath and was out the door.

At the airport, ben and I waited for our flight to be called. It was an eerie silence, the kind only found at 3 am in an almost empty room. He had drifted to sleep on my shoulder, quiet breaths leaving him as his eyes gently fluttered. I picked up his hand, tracing actoss the back of it with my thumb. I ran my thumb across his ring as well, still not believing that the wedding procession wasnt a figment of my imagination.

"Flight 113 to Washington DC, flight 113 to Washington DC now boarding"

The P.A. System frightened me, the sudden loud noise raising my adrenaline levels almost immediately.

"Ben, sweetie, thats us" i whispered, softly shaking him awake. "You can go back to sleep on the plane"

He yawned for a minute then stood up. I pulled the passports and plane tickets out of my hoodie pockets and we started to get on the plane.

At about 5:00 am, we landed in Washington DC after the 1.5 hour flight (which consisted mostly of sleeping). We drove the rental car we ordered to our hotel, deciding now was a good of a time as ever to get in a few hours of sleep. Our day included lots of walking which takes lots of energy which we didnt have at the moment. I curled up in the soft bed, not caring to change into any pajamas. I almost instantly fell asleep, harldy noticing when Ben cuddled up beside me.

We didnt intend to spend the first day of our honeymoon sleeping, but we also underestimated the exhaustion and toll a wedding would have on us. The nap, however, was more magical than a tour of a couple buildings could ever be. Around 2:30 was when we awoke, deciding that we are definitely going to the whitehouse before we were off to the next state.

We arrived at the guided tour at 3:15, walking around the estate (which was smaller than I'd expected).

"And here we are, the grand building of this tour, The whitehouse! Now, technically this is not the original whitehouse. Years ago, the british-"

The tour guide went on and on about the history of the whitehouse and America and all that, but i was so focused on ben to notice. His hazel eyes were peircing in the sunlight, and his hair had a glisten to it, the chocolate color interrupted with a lighter blond highlight. His hand was intertwined with my own, a feeling of safety drifting over me with every step we take as our feet move in sync and our arms swing. I didnt pay any attention to anything the tour guide said, hardly noticing when we made it back to the starting/stopping point of our tour.

"Thanks for taking me here." I said, pulling the seatbelt across my waist.

"Of course. Maybe if we come here again, you wont sing the entire Hamilton soundtrack again."

"How can you not!"

We both laughed as we drove to grab some lunch. We decided on a burger place, because what's more American? Our lunch lasted maybe 15 minutes, followed by us grabbing our bags from the hotel and getting back on the road.

"Ben, we were here for like 10 hours. Why the rush?"

"I dunno, just impatient i guess. You dont get to drive around the country with your wife everyday." His right hand left the steering wheel and moved to my knee. The GPS blurted out directions as we left for abother destination.

~~~~1 week later~~~~
"Ok, i HAVE to send this to Corey."
"Why? I mean, yeah he was Jack but i dont think he'll care Ben."
We were practically cackling as Ben sent the picture of us standing in front of the Santa Fe city limit sign to one of his best friends, Corey.
"I mean, come on. Its kinda monumental. It is how we met after all."
"Whatever, you drive and ill send it, okay?"
He handed me the phone and i finshed the text. The entire drive through Santa Fe, Ben blasted the 3 most infamous songs about the city: Santa Fe from rent, Santa Fe prologue from Newsies, and Santa Fe (again) from newsies. The ride was filled with hysterical laughter as the songs played on a loop. We didnt stay anywhere in the city, instead decided to drive through until we got to California, the last destination.
