A Guide to Wattpad

here i am with a new chapter all about these things called profile pages. 

[what are they?] 

profile pages are digital pages dedicated to the user it belongs to. It often represents a person's identity. This is what shows others about you, and the things online that belong to you. 

[where can they be found?]

Easy! They are right where your username lies on the top right hand corner of the desktop page. 

[what are the parts of a profile page?]

[Number one: the name of creativity or reality]

a name, as by a dictionary, is a word or set of words by which a person or thing is known, addressed, or referred to. This of course means that you can write in the space of where 'the name' goes any words or set of words that refer to you in anyway. For example, a nickname, pen name or a random word that you would like to be referred to on wattpad. Some people are comfortable online to write their real name, others are not. If you want to be called 'super girl' then do whatever makes you comfortable.

[Number two: the location in which one lies]

a location is a setting or place. See, the dictionary doesn't say 'where one lives' or 'where one is located'. This proves that you don't need to put the exact location where you are in the world. If you put your real location, it is quite dangerous to do that because you may not know who is who online. Back on track, a location can be anywhere in the universe you would like to be. For example, you could be on mars, jupiter, planet earth, the sun, in your dreams and in school. Be bold, be creative. 

[Number three: the day you were born]

birthdays. Such great things aren't they. On wattpad, you can choose to share your special day with others so maybe, just maybe, someone might grant you with a wish on that particular day. You may also choose to do a birthday date of your favourite singer, actor, dancer, movie release date and book release. 

[Number four: biography of you]

a bio is an account of someones life written by someone else. Now that's the funny part. Online, a bio isn't written by a friend or stranger that is not you. A bio is what you write about yourself. Writing a bio may be a bit difficult so i am providing a few things you can put into your bio.

you can put social media accounts such as twitter, weheartit, another wattpad account or your tumblr. You can put have a serious tone and write a past story about you, serious or funny. You can be unusual and put unique facts about yourself in it such as your favourite colour or movie. You can be minimalist and put symbols in it with unusual sayings. You can be a fan of a movie or book and express yourself. In all, just be yourself  and express yourself.

[Number five: a picture that showcases you]

profile pictures are difficult to find. People often say that "the picture has to look like you" or "that makes no complete sense with your bio." Here's one thing I need to say. Be yourself. Don't act like others online and don't listen to those who want you to be like others. When choosing a profile picture, I suggest websites such as weheartit.com to find one. [this is where i find my profile pictures] You can choose whatever profile picture you want that you feel drawn too or 'connected to'. If you want to express yourself even more and put your own face as your profile picture, you can do that! Some people may want to put their profile picture as a favourite character in a movie or tv show or a dog or dragon. Just do what feels right to you.

[Number six: backgrounds to your picture] 

Profile banners or backgrounds are a long picture that is located behind your beautiful profile picture. These can be in relation to your profile picture if you would like. For example, if there is a favourite actor in the profile picture, you might like to have additional pictures of them as the background. You could also have a scenery such as a sunset or night sky. Some people like to keep it minimalist and keep it one colour such as white or black or a colour that looks good with their profile picture. Others might have a pattern as their background. The possibilities for what you would like to have is endless.

sidenote// the best size for a background is 3496 x 1080. The lowest you can go is 1920 x 400.

[Number seven: links to social accounts]

here is where you may put links to your social media accounts if you haven't done so in your bio. You can do your tumblr, weheartit, twitter, instagram, vine, youtube and more. If you aren't comfortable in showing others your social media accounts, you do not have to do it. This is optional.

[Number eight: reading lists]

reading lists are just lists of your favourite books or books you want to keep track off. You start off with a name. The name can be anything you like, such as a song lyric, a word you enjoy, something that describes what is in the list or just a symbol. You then add books that you've read or are reading and then you save and there you go. You have a list of books that are sorted out. Some people like to sort out their books like that so instead of going into their library, they go to their reading list[s].
