[hello, and welcome to the chapter that will probably save all of your lives. introducing...covers on picmonkey]
so we've all someday probably been thinking about creating a delightful cover for our delightful story. but suddenly, you don't know where to start or how to do it. well, currently there is a chapter that tells you the elements of a cover. so go on and read it and then come back to this chapter.
i said in the previous chapter a few types of websites/apps that you can make a cover on. if you chose picmonkey, I'm here to tell you all about it.
[lets get on with the show.]
[no.1: getting to know the possibilities.]
i suggest going onto picmonkey.com and starting from there. [if you know this step, skip]. there will be four icons near the top of the page. edit, touch up, design and collage.
edit; create something spectacular with a photo that's already on your electronic.
touch up; change up a picture you have. maybe add a bit of whitening on your teeth and some blush. who knows?
design; create your own creation any size you want.
collage; make cool as edits with as many photos as you want.
[you may want to choose any for your cover. they all have great possibilities!]
[no.2: which one to choose. it's simply to hard!]
when you choose anyone you want to, you have to choose where your image it. computer, Facebook, one drive and dropbox. if you want to make a cover with design, make sure you make a custom size.
[size of a wattpad cover: 256x400 or 512x800 ]
[no.3: what is next. oh, that fun part.]
now its onto the fun part, actually making the cover. basic edits should pop up and they would show you Auto Adjust, Crop,Canvas colour, Rotate, Exposure, Colours, sharpen and re size. these are pretty self-explanatory so have fun with them and experiment!
[effects. oh the effect on me]
the next icon down to the basic edits is effects. effects help you to give a 'filter' on your cover. be warned, you cannot use the ones with crowns if you are not a royale.
[touch up. just time to fix up what i want to]
the third icon down is touch up. touch up gives you ways to fix parts of a photo you may have been worried about or are just wrong. maybe put a lip tint on that girl you choose to put on your cover or maybe she has red eyes.
[text. i love me some text.]
the fourth icon down is text. this is where you can add your cover name onto your cover or your wattpad name. you can use fonts that are on your device or ones they give you. when you add text with the font you want and write, you can change the colour, boldness, size and blending.
[overlays. can i put a flower on the i?]
the fifth icon down is overlay. this is where you can jive up your cover with sicker type overlay. there are stars and normal shapes or you can make your own overlay with a picture you already have on your device! change the colour and the blending technique and it'll look magnifique.
[frames. frame that artwork honey]
the sixth icon down is frames. this is where you can frame that cover with what you want to frame it with. maybe a polaroid effect. *personally i've never used this*
[textures. is that a real bump on the canvas?]
textures are the seventh icon down. they give you a 3D type of look on your cover or just some fun and spunk. you can even do your own!
[themes. does this match your theme of the book?]
themes are the last icon down. themes are just all of the above categorised into groups like zombies and school. if your book is about school, you may want to choose a school-ish font.
if your book cover is finished and bootiful. you can save it with the icon on the top!
