So, you have the idea of your story, character names and personality. You want the story to start nicely and people would like to read on. Right? Well, here are some ideas:
1. A short sentence that brings questions to the readers head.
2. Speech, Common but often confuses people.
3. flashback. Of what bad happened or Just happened. I wouldn't use this straight away because the reader would like too see whats happening now. Maybe do some sentences of where she/he is and then do a flash back.
4. Dreams and Nightmares. I could be something bad or a dream of someone they like! Squeal!
You can't start a story with the character waking up in the morning and laaddy-da-da there brushing their teeth and Yawn! Boring stuff! Start with action and emotion, drama and friendships. The best stories start with an BANG! of emotions.
Don't start everything right away, don't put all the characters feelings, situations, memories, family and friends. Because the reader wants to read the story bit by bit. Don't over whelm them otherwise you might lose them.
Some wonder who long will my chapter be? How much words for 3 pages?
For 3 pages - 2000 words. {It does seem like a lot!}
For 2 pages - around 1000 words.
For 1 page - less than 1000 words.
Your story must have at least 2 pages and more if it's a novel, if less, its a short story.
