mistakes.

I was chillin on the couch, watching tv, when the front door opened and Lai walked in carrying a bag with a determined look on her face.
I get up off the couch and walk towards her, "Laila...what's wrong?"
She panicked and hid a black bag behind her back.
"Nothing, I'm fine" she backed away from me and towards the stairs.
"Lai you can tell me if anything's wrong" I put my hand on her shoulder, reassuring her.
She sighs, "I think..I'm pregnant and I bought a test to make sure" she handed me the black bag. "I'm scared cause I know Ski doesn't want any kids yet but i don't want to abort it and I don't know what to do" She rambles as I take the box out of the bag.
"You don't know if your pregnant yet, so don't stress. Come on" I grab her hand and led her up to the hall bathroom. I gave her the test and she walked in the bathroom. Two minutes later, she comes out holding the stick, "It says it's gonna take 5 minutes, two lines for pregnant and 1 for not pregnant" We went back inside the bathroom and she placed the stick on the counter then we sat on the bath tub and waited. Once 5 minutes passed, the test gave out a high pitched beep. I looked at her, her eyes set on the test.
"Can you look at it first, I'm scared to see what it says" she sniffles. I nod my head and walked over to the test, picking it up. I looked at the results, two lines.
"Here" I hand it to her and she looks at it.
She starts breaking down crying. Sitting next to her, I start to rub her back.
"No matter what Ski says, I will always be here for you, no matter what." She smiled up at me and laid her head on my shoulder. "Now how about we go and have a girls day, just you and me, not worrying about the boys or anything else." She nods and stands up
"But first lets go to the clinic to make sure"

"Ms. Ness?" Lai and I both stand up and walk to a doctor. "Follow me" she instructed then turned and walked through a heavy door. We followed close behind her, going down a series of corridors until we arrived at an empty room with a bed-like table, with a white sheet on it, in the middle of the room and a big machine next to it.
"Sit down here" The doctor patted the bed and sat in a rolling stool. Lai hopped onto the table and I sat down in a chair next to it.
"So, tell me what's the problem?" The doctor asked.
"Well...um, I-I uh-" Lai stuttered.
"What she is trying to say is, she did a pregnancy test and it said she was pregnant, we just want to make sure it was true." Lai nodded to what I said.
"So are you..together?"
"Oh no, no I'm just a supporting friend"
"Oh okay, uh when was your last menstruation?"
"Um..I don't know maybe 7 or 8 weeks ago, I didn't really think anything of it cause sometimes it's a little late but it's when I started having morning sickness, that I started getting a little worried." Lai rambled on.
"Go ahead and lay back for me and lift your shirt up to below your breasts"
The doctor stands up, putting gloves on her hands, and grabbing a tube of liquid out of the cabinet on the other side of the room. Lai lifted her shirt and the doctor put some liquid on her stomach and grabs a scanner looking thing. She places the 'scanner' on her stomach and moves it around, spreading the liquid on her stomach while looking at the monitor. Lai grabs my hand, squeezing it tight. I just rub my thumb over the back of her palm to try to calm her down.
"Well Ms. Ness it seems like you are pregnant, as you can see.." she turned the monitor to face us and pointed at the little blob on the screen "There is your baby" she smiled at us.

"So what are you gonna do?" I question as I pulled into the drive way, noticing Ski and Jah's cars. She sighs, "I have to tell Stokely, he deserves to know" She sighs heavily. "Im sorry Mani, I forgot we were supposed to have a girls day"
I laugh "It's okay we can reschedule for tomorrow" I smiled at her and she smiled back.
"Thank you mani, really. You've been so supportive and I really appreciate that" she sniffles, wiping under her eyes.
"Don't cry cause then imma cry" I say making a sad face. I wrap my arms around her shoulders, bringing her head to my chest. "If Stoke don't want the baby and kicks you out then imma kick his ass. Shit, I'll be the baby daddy of you want" she laughs and gets out of the car. I quickly get out and follow her to the front porch where Jahseh was sitting on the stairs leading up to the front door. He looks up at us then at Lai and nodded at the door. I looked at Lai and she had a worried face as she walked toward the front door and entered the house.
Jah was quiet for a second before speaking up, "So whose is it?"
"What are you talking about?" I cross my arms over my chest.
"Emani don't play dumb, you know what I'm talking about" I thought for a second then it popped in my head.
"You found the test?"
"Whose is it?" He asked sternly once again.
"Jahseh I'm not pregnant" I sit down next to him. He let out a breath of relief.
"What if i was?"
"What?" He looked down at me confused.
"What if I was knocked up, what would you do?" I lean my head on his shoulder, waiting for his answer. I could hear faint talking from inside of the house as I waited.
"I-I don't know" he stuttered.
"You don't know?"
"I've never thought of the possibility of me getting you knocked up honestly"

"Hmm..." I stand up and walk toward my car.
"Where are you going?" He called after me.
"I'm giving you time to think about it" I get inside my car and drive away from the house. I stop at a red light then my phone went off. I look at it to see an unknown number has texted me.

Hey it's Seven I was wondering if I could take up up on that coffee

Yeah I would love that meet me at  the Starbucks on Hudson Ave.
