Crushed (Part 1) [Hatoful Boyfriend: Yuuya x Hiyoko]

New Year at the Shrine

The shrine was very busy because of the turn of the new year. One of the faces in the crowd belonged to Yuuya, but he did not have the same smiling face as everyone else at the shrine did, no. The normally cool and collected high school senior had a serious look on his face, and he kept nonchalantly adjusting his ear piece, waiting foe further instructions from Mister One, or Le One JB as Yuuya knows him as on the job as a secret agent.

"Still got your eye on him, Sakazaki?" Le One's gruff voice buzzed through Yuuya's ear piece.

"Yep, I'm still following him," Yuuya was focused, mumbling to his higher-up as he weaved through the crowd.

Yuuya then came to a grassy clearing and noticed that the figure he needed to tail was making his getaway. Yuuya began to pick up speed without sticking out too much, but he began to panic when the figure tucked into the next cluster of people up ahead. Yuuya knew that if he kept perusing, he just might be able to stop his target from running, but then a sudden roadblock got in his way.

"Yuuya!" a voice was heard not too far away.

Yuuya's heart skipped as soon as he heard that voice. He glanced to see who was calling his name, and sure enough, it was Hiyoko, and she was skipping her way towards him.

A bit distracted for a moment, Yuuya turned back into the direction of the person he was perusing, but it was too late, they were gone. Yuuya had lost his chance.

Hiyoko, as giddy as ever rushed to Yuuya's side, a grin stretched across her face "I wasn't expecting to see you here, Yuuya, but I'm happy I did!"

Yuuya gritted his teeth in irritation, but making sure Hiyoko didn't see. He then turned to her, adorning a soft, handsome smile "Hiyoko, I'm happy and surprised to see you as well, Mon Amie".

The two youths chat very briefly before Yuuya ultimately departs, giving an edited reason why he must suddenly go. Once in a remote area away from Hiyoko, Yuuya communicates with Le One one last time for the morning.

"Sir, I'm sorry, but the suspect got away," Yuuya's voice was filled with pain and regret.

"What? Did they break away after spotting you? They're not on to you, are they?"

"No, I-" Yuuya paused, feeling a guilty lump get caught in his throat "I got distracted, Sir".

Only silence came from the ear piece, and that only made Yuuya feel more guilty.

"That's very unlike you Sakazaki," Le One's voice is calm and smooth "are you doing alright?"

Yuuya was surprised to hear how trusting Le One truly was of him and how he put care for him above anything else "Y-yeah," Yuuya glanced back where he left Hiyoko. He smiled as he saw her take her charm from the shrine, talking with Mister Nanaki "I'm doing just fine".
