Yuuya excused himself from the Infirmary lab once Mister Nanaki returned. All Yuuya wanted was to clear his head, which he knew was ultimately impossible. Everything was going wrong, and he had no way of fixing it.
First was the death of Hiyoko Tosaka, the girl he had fallen in love with. Not only that, but he himself had to saw her body into chunks and distribute them because those were the Doctor's orders. Speaking of the Doctor, Iwamine had just praised Yuuya of being just like a real member of the Hawk party, which was a good thing for his undercover work, but Yuuya felt something... off about Shuu's "complement". Yuuya was truly stressed, and he finally cleared his mind of all those things, only briefly, after he heard the sound of two familiar somebirdies in the hallway.
It was Sakuya and Ryouta, and he overheard them mention his name.
"What a pickle! I guess I am a topic amongst the boys as well as the girls now," Yuuya chuckled as he cooly approached the boys "Not that I mind".
"Don't let it get to your head, mongrel. We weren't saying anything good about you," Sakuya snapped, not skipping a beat to go after his brother's pride.
"That's right, Yuuya. From your point of view we were subjecting you to slander and ill gossips!" Ryouta side-eyed Yuuya suspiciously.
"You're very frank, Ryouta," Yuuya nodded, feigning nonchalance "Nothing wrong with that. What kind of slander? Maybe you shouldn't say, lets my fragile heart shatters like a maiden's crystal glass due to an unkind lover".
"That's enough of your depressed poetry drivle, we demand answers from you!" Sakuya stared him down while Yuuya looked relaxed despite the verbal attacks flinging his way.
Ryouta promptly held up Hiyoko's bloodied ID card and presented it to Yuuya "I found this in the Infirmary. While you were cleaning you managed to forget about Hiyoko's ID? I know she had it the day before her death, and even during the school day prior".
Yuuya felt a chill go down his spine seeing her picture. The last memory he had of Hiyoko was her lifeless corpse in many pieces. His stomach turned, remembering his alibi in the end.
"You lied! You were with Tosaka in the Infirmary yesterday. Did you kill her?" Sakuya interrogated while Yuuya regained mild composure once again.
"That doesn't sound like solid evidence to me," Yuuya evaded, refusing to even glance at the ID anymore.
"Don't give us that!" Ryouta had tears in his eyes "You mean to tell me you have nothing to say about Hiyoko's bloody ID being found in the room you and the doctor were apparently cleaning?"
"We demand an answer! What did you see or do in the Infirmary yesterday?" Sakuya demanded with a booming voice.
The shouting coming from his underclassmen demanding him to tell the truth was weighing heavy on Yuuya. He wished so badly to tell them what truly went down. But Yuuya still had something to loose— even if Hiyoko was gone already— he still needed to make sure his brother remained safe in the dark.
Yuuya had an apologetic glumness expression to his face, and looked shamefully away from the boys "I'm sorry, I can't tell you anything. I can't say anything... at all."
Ryouta's expression shifted as well. He caught the realness in Yuuya's eyes; for once, Yuuya didn't seem to have a facade put on to look cool, and Ryouta noticed.
Sakuya huffed out a gruff laugh "This is ridiculous! You can't even hide that you're hiding something! Just tell us for goodness sake and you'll start to look like less of an idiot, let alone suspicious".
Sadly, the three young men had their pleasant discussion interrupted by loud scraping sound approaching from around the corner of the hallway.
"Oh no," Ryouta nearly froze.
Pained moaning echoed as the figure of the horrid, burlap scarecrow turned the corner and faced them.
"Let's go!" Yuuya acted fast, lightly pushing Ryouta and Sakuya along the other way.
The boys sprinted, not knowing when it'd be safe for them to stop. Eventually, Yuuya and Sakuya had gotten seperated from Ryouta, and found themself in a random stairwell in the school.
Sakuya caught his breath, and angrily pointed a finger at Yuuya "If you had just answered out demands we probably could have avoided that scarecrow's presence in the hallway!"
"He's still out there." Yuuya listens through the door, ignoring his brother's complaints "I'll go out and distract him by leading him to the cafeteria, while you head to the maintenance room, got it?"
Sakuya scoffs "You, a decoy? Whatever, don't think that this act of foolish beavery is make me stop suspecting you".
"I wasn't asking you to," Yuuya glanced at his little brother "I've always been an ally until now".
"An ally? Really?" Sakuya rolled his eyes.
"Anyway, run for it as soon as we're out of sight," Yuuya ordered just before he sprinted into the hallway towards the cafeteria, the scarecrow speedily dragging its feet after him until they both were out of sight.
