Crushed (Part 1) [Hatoful Boyfriend: Yuuya x Hiyoko]

Ryouta and Sakuya had left the Janitor's closet, leaving Yuuya and Mister Le One alone again.

"This is a lot crazier than I thought it'd be," Yuuya took a long, pained sigh "I knew it'd be out of the ordinary, but a walking scarecrow? Hear of anything like that before?"

Le One shook his head "Not really, and I'm an old man".

"Great," Yuuya's brow furrowed "I'm not even sure how I'm supposed to fight it. It's slow, but can it be beaten? Is it living or pure machine?"

"With that and the walls, there are a lot of mysteries to this school that we still don't know about. Go talk to Shuu, I'm sure he knows plenty," Le One assured.

"I suppose that's the next best place to go. And besides, I needed to speak with Professor Nanaki anyway."

"Be carful out there Sakazaki."

Yuuya gave his partner a wink as he stepped out the door "Always, JB".

Yuuya managed to get back to the Infirmary without even seeing the horrid scarecrow in the halls. As he gently shuts the door behind him, he spies Nanaki near Shuu, staring intently, obviously keeping a close eye on him, even though Shuu is just typing something on his laptop.

"Excuse me, Professor!" Yuuya calls out.

Nanaki turned his way "Yes, Sakazaki?"

The teacher approached the upperclassmen, out of Shuu's ear shot.

"Anything odd yet?" Yuuya leaned in and asked.

"Not particularly," Nanaki shook his head "from what I could tell, he's just making notes of the autopsy and possible causes of death".

Before Yuuya could respond, Shuu spins 180 degrees on his stool, facing away from his screen, and asks Yuuya to approach him with just the motion of his pointer finger.

As Yuuya walked over to see what he wanted, Sakuya and Ryouta came walking through the door.

Yuuya, too in to the task at hand, focused his attention on Shuu.

"What do you need, Doctor?" Yuuya raised an eyebrow.

Shuu held up his pointer finger again, this time indicating for him to wait for just one moment, as he continued typing on his laptop.

Yuuya, a bit frustrated, noticed Ryouta, Sakuya and Mister Nanaki leave. Yuuya also spotted the slight hesitation Ryouta had when they locked eyes with one another. His expression showed immediate distrust, and Yuuya could understand why. Yuuya wouldn't want to leave Hiyoko's body in a room with two potential suspects either.

As the door clicked shut, Shuu asked coldly "Are you up to something, Sakazaki?"

"Are you up to something, Iwamine?" Yuuya retorts, fire in his eyes.

The Doctor flashes a mischievous grin, swiveling 90 degrees to make eye contact with Yuuya "Don't you remember the leverage I have? I wouldn't betray me now if I were you".

Yuuya felt his chest tighten, but he's sure to not let his weakness show "You have nothing to worry about, I already vouched for you about where you were yesterday, and Sakuya ate it up".

"But what about Mister Kawara?" Shuu crossed his legs right over left, and interlocked his fingers on top of his knee "He seems to trust you as much as he trusts me".

Yuuya shrugged "I don't know what to tell you, he's a teenager after all".

The Doctor's sinister smile sent a bone chilling feeling down Yuuya's spine. Despite the fear, Yuuya remained calm, keeping his gentle eyes on that unsettling face before him.

Soon, Shuu got bored of the stare down and turned back to his work. Yuuya also stepped to the side, leaning his back against the counter, keeping his eyes on that evil Doctor.

Yuuya knew that the Doctor had to know something about the scarecrow, but he didn't dare ask about anything like that while his brother's life was lying on the line.
