Trinity's Outfit
Alec's Outfit
"Ok girls. Today we will work on the two solos first, Brynn then Trinity. Then we will work on the group dances at the same time. Finally Jace and Trinity's duet." Abby announces. We nod then leave the main studio. I turn around when I feel someone grab my wrist. "Do you want to work on our duet?" Jace asks. I was about to say no but then he gives me the puppy eyes.
"Sure." I say. "I come my Twinidy?" Alec asks cutely, hugging my leg. I look at Jace for an answer. "Sure little guy." He says ruffling Alec's hair, causing Alec to giggle. "Yeah!" Alec squeals. I pick up Alec and then we go to a empty studio to rehearse. We rehearse a little bit, cleaning then running the entire number.
We do our ending pose. I can't help but feel fuzzy when I look at Jace. I can't like him though. I've just met him. Suddenly I hear clapping which snaps me out of it. "You guys are weally good." Alec lisps cutely. "Thanks Alec." I say giving him a hug and a kiss on his cheek.
"Want to practice some partner work? Instead of just running the dance constantly." Jace asks once again giving me the puppy eyes. I sigh defeated. "Let's do it."
"Want to choreograph another duet?" I ask excitedly. I've just realized we work really well together. We could become permanent duet partners. "What style?" Jace asks curiously. "Acro." We begin to choreography three eight counts of are dance. Then making sure we can physically do them more than once. "You're pretty strong." I say surprised.
"Yeah I—" Jace gets cut off by Brynn walking in. "It's time to work on your solo." I say sorry to Jace. "I'll watch Alec. The little man and I need some guy time anyway." Jace says winking. I thank him before going to the main studio.
"I want you to run the dance." Abby says. I run it a few times. Her giving the usual corrections. And before I know it I'm taking a stretch break, conversing with Abby like we're best friends. I can hear Melissa talking to the other moms about this being temporary. And how it's only s matter of time before Maddie replaces me.
I sigh looking down. "What's wrong?" Abby says. "I just don't like how they compare me to her as if I'm not my own person. I've more than proved that I should be on this team. I've had a winning streak since I've been here. I've even gotten perfect scores. What more do they want?" I say sadly.
"Trinity I'm going to be honest with you. You are better than Maddie ever was. You work twice as hard because of the pressure being put on you and your a phenomenal dancer and my new guaranteed go to girl. Forget what they say. It matters what I think and I think your extraordinary." I smile before running and giving Abby a hug. She smiles at me before telling me to run it again. Everything is fine until Melissa barges in.
"Abby you don't do that for the other girls." Melissa snaps angrily. Oh no. Drama. "When the other girls are getting bullied by the moms for existing I'll do the same." Abby says. "You obviously favor her. Every opportunity goes to her. You even let her choreograph!" Melissa yells getting angry her. "Trinity is amazing and has good input. I'd be a fool not to. And if you want your daughters on my team you'd watch your mouth." Abby says finally getting angry.
Melissa stomps off causing me to let out the breath I was holding. Abby give me a hug. "Don't worry about her. She's just mad Maddie isn't the best anymore." I nod and give her another hug. "Your practice time is over anyway. Go work on your group and I'll come over to work with you guys halfway through." I nod before getting my group together.
"Ok guys let's run the first half." I say then I start the music and group rehearsal goes smoothly. I'm glad I chose this group. I just hope the other moms won't start any drama. "Can I see what you have so far?" Abby asks walking in. "Sure." I say then we run the whole dance full out. And it goes perfectly.
"Perfect girls. You guys are sure to come in first if you keep this up." Abby says. We all thank her and hug her. "We're working on your duet in an hour Trinity so try not to get too tired." Abby says before leaving. "Ok guys since we still have time I'm going to ask everyone to run the dance by themselves as if this is an audition. Give it your all because this is for me to see how well you know the dance without the group. Any volunteers?" I ask. Brynn raises her hand. Everyone goes to the mirror while Brynn dances.
Her dance goes smoothly. Her technique is perfect and her emotions are great. "The only critique I have is to live in the moment while doing the dance. Don't make the dance seem so calculated. It needs to look as if your having the best time ever." I say. Brynn gives me a hug before I ask for the next volunteer.
"Nia I would just work on getting your leg all the way up, because your emotion is phenomenal."
"Camryn I would work on technique for this dance even though you look really mature."
"Mackenzie I would work on looking more mature while doing the dance. Practicing in a mirror always helps me."
Now it's time for my duet with Jace. I head to the studio and Jace and I run the dance. "Abby I think it would be better if Trinity and I end in the same position we started except the roles are reversed." Jace says. "That's a really good idea Jace. Keep it up!" Abby says excitedly. It looks like everything is going smoothly.
