I wake up to the sweet smell of a new day. Today, is fair day. Tessa and Callie are going too, so I guess there'll be 5 wheels instead of 3, if you know what I mean.
Anyways, Tom, Callie, and Amanda like the huge rides, so they'll probably get split up from us because we like the smaller rides. I put on my athletic shorts and a t-shirt, slip on my socks and sneakers, grab a protein bar and my purse, and head out the door, where Callie, Tessa, Amanda, and Tom are waiting to pick me up. I hop in the car and start chomping my protein bar. I sit in the back with Tessa and Amanda. Callie is driving, and Tom is in the passenger seat. I purposely sit in the middle so I can be the center of the drama. "Hey guys! Ready for some fun?" I say, a little too excitedly. Everyone chuckles a little.
"Yeah! I know I am. Hey, maybe you and Tom can ride together, Amanda?" Tessa says.
"Umm... umm..." Both of their faces go beet red. "I don't know if he wants to ride with me. He might want to ride with someone else." Amanda says.
"Well, I know you and Gabi the best, so I would rather ride with one of you if that's okay." Tom replies.
"I'm gonna be riding with Callie and Tessa, so you'll probably have to ride with Amanda." Her face goes red again and she looks away. I wink at Tom and he gives me a thumbs up. The rest of the ride is sort of disappointing. No drama at all. A forty-five minute drive with no drama. I basically slept and listened to music the whole time. Anyways, we finally got there at about 11:30 A.M. We step out of the car, and the fair is WAY bigger than any fair I've ever seen before. It's HUGE! It's more like an amusement park than a fair!
We walk up to get our tickets, and they check our bags. We continue through the line, and finally get in. Immediately, Tom, Amanda, and Callie point out the biggest roller coaster in the park, and start running towards it. "We'll meet up with you guys later!" Callie calls behind her. Tessa and I roll our eyes, and start walking towards a smaller coaster. The roller coaster's called Invader and it's a wooden coaster with many twists and turns, and a huge drop at the end. We get in line, and have to wait for about 30 minutes before we can get on.
"I guess we'll have to get quick passes next time." Tessa giggles.
"Yeah. We're almost there though." I say.
We finally get to the front of the line, and I start shaking. I am terrified of roller coasters, but the small ones I can kind of handle. Tessa hates them, but I made her come anyways. We take our seats in the middle of the cart, and the guy starts talking over the loudspeaker. "Attention Invaders, please remember to keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all times, and have fun!" Then he starts to count down, which always terrifies me. "3...2...1... BLAST OFF!" We shoot off super fast, and Tessa is hysterically screaming in my ear. Although I'm pretty sure I'm screaming in hers too. We go through the twists and turns and dark tunnels, and I already have a kink in my neck. But when we get to the drop, I almost throw up. I HATE the drop. I count in my head to prepare myself. 3...2...1! We plummet down the huge drop, and I scream so hard my voice gets scratchy. After that, we go on a few more rides, then meet up with the others for lunch. We meet them at a place called The Tavern. The food there looks pretty good. We take a seat and wait for the others to show up.
"Hey!" We hear from behind us. We turn around to see Tom and Amanda holding hands, and Callie laughing behind them. "Are you guys having fun?" Amanda asks.
"Well it sure looks like you are!" I say. They both blush.
"Umm, I'm gonna go to the bathroom." Tom says. Awkwardly walking away.
"UMM! WHAT WAS THAT?" I scream at her.
"Well, he wanted me to go on this REALLY big roller coaster, and I told him I was scared, so he offered to hold my hand. I said okay, and when we got to the drop, and screamed and held onto him REALLY tight." She keeps blushing. "When we were done with the drop, we kept going through twists and turns. And he said something, but I couldn't hear what he said over the wind. So I said 'What?' And he screamed I LIKE YOU! And everybody on the roller coaster turned around and went, 'Awww'. And then I said, I LIKE YOU TOO! And then he kissed me! And then the roller coaster ended, and we came straight here." Tessa and I just stare at her for a while, the simultaneously start squealing.
"I'm so happy for you!" Callie screams.
Tom comes back from the bathroom, and for the whole rest of lunch, they share cute, awkward glances with each other. "Ewwww!" We all tease.
Later on, after we've ridden all the rides, eaten all the snacks, and bought all the souvenirs, we walk back to the car and start driving home.
Halfway there, I get a text.
Are you free right now? If you are, meet me at The Hilltop. I know it's your favorite restaurant.
Of course it could only be from Adrien.
Okay. I'll be there in 20.
I ask Callie to drop me off at The Hilltop, as requested, and when we get there, I thank her, grab my purse and walk into the restaurant. I'm so hungry, I think.
I walk in, and ask the hostess where Adrien is sitting. She points me to a table, and I look over and see Adrien in the corner booth, with rose petals scattered all around. I take a seat across from him. "What's all this for?" I ask him.
"You. It's for you. Gabi I think it's time I start making up for what I've done to you all this time. I'm not gonna stop until you feel like you could trust me with anything. And I mean anything. Because you treated with kindness when no one else would. And I owe you for that."
"Adrien, you don't owe me anything. It's just gonna take time-"
"No. I do owe you. I'm gonna make this up to you by doing whatever I have to. Starting now."
Hope you enjoyed the clever wordplay on the title! Love you all.- xo K
