Chapter 28|"Why Are You Interroagting Me?"
Edited
******************************************Monday Night
Zac's POV
I HELD ONTO Gwen tightly as we were embracing. Tears were brimming in my eyes, but I didn't let them fall, I had to be strong for her.
Gwen was still shaking in my arms and crying. Her sobs made my heart clench every second. All I could do was stroke her hair, give her fake smiles, give her warm bear hugs, and calm her down with meaningless words.
I heard more police sirens and I knew that people are going to have to start asking questions.
I gently pulled Gwen's face away form my chest and looked in her wet pupils, I tired my best to not look at their wide open chest, "The police are going to ask you questions soon, can you do that?"
Gwen let sniffed, "Not right now..."
I brought her back into a hug, "Of course not right now." I said gently.
I felt guilty for not giving her my sweatshirt so, I took it off letting my arms touch the cold air in her room. I gave it to her, and she obliged and placed it on her naked upper body.
She looked like my girl when she had the sweatshirt on, she looked at me with her beautiful brown eyes and smiled at me, she laid her wet cheek on my chest again. Leaning into my warmth.
A police man then came in asked Gwen some questions. She answered two out of ten of them. This was a simple, yet difficult case.
The case would put like this,
'A waitress found a creepy, sexual interest in a 17 year old girl, broke into her house, after following her home, and almost raped her.'
Simple as a cup of noodles.
And yet, the questions were so hard to answer.
After the police man asked questions, me and Gwen were then forced to go to the police department for interrogation.
I didn't know anything about the man, and neither did Gwen. The interrogator wasn't surprised either, since he knew this was an unexpected break through.
I laid my cheek in the cold metal table in form of me, and let out a groan. "When do we leave?" I asked desperately.
"When Mr. Rea is interrogated and when we find you not suspicious." The detective said.
I turned my head letting my chin rest on the table. "Who the hell is Mr. Rea?" I asked.
"Ray-Ah, not Ree-Awe." Gwen said next to me. I rolled my eyes and scoffed, "And it's kind of obvious who that is..." Gwen trailed off.
"Oh," I finally realized who it was. I clenched my fists under the desk and slammed one on the top of the table, leaving a big dent.
"Nice work dumbass." Gwen said sounding bored. I just gave her a thumbs up not bothering to speak.
"I don't like what he did to you." I said through my clenched teeth.
"I know you aren't, and neither am I." She sighed.
"How are you so calm already?" I asked looking at her.
"Who said I was calm?" She said with a shaky voice. I frowned and I took a hold of one of her hands. "Out of both of us, your the most calm." She stated, she tightened her hold on my hand and I did the same.

An hour passed and we were finally able to head home, I looked at my phone and realized it was midnight.
I heard Gwen yawn on my side. "Want me to bring you home?" I asked nudging her shoulder.
"Not to my house," she said, "I'm not ready to head back just yet." She said sounding groggy.
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair, "Fine, how about Natalie's?" I suggested again.
Gwen nodded and gave me a half smile. "I'd like that." I smiled back at her and we walked to my truck.
That wasn't there.
"Shit!" I screamed. Gwen shrieked next to me and jumped five feet in the air.
"Wh-What's wrong?" She asked with a low shaky voice. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.
"I forgot I didn't bring my car." I confessed.
"Are you shitting me?" Gwen asked, I gave her a nervous laugh and scratched the back of my head. She huffed out and got her phone out.
"Who are you calling?" I asked peeking over her shoulder.
"Natalie, someone who has a car." She said, I frowned at myself.
I placed my hands in my pockets, "Well, I'm sorry. I was in a hurry to get you away from Mr. Rea." I sighed.
Gwen's eyes softened and she smiled. She was about to say something but she stopped because Natalie must've answered her phone.
"Hey Nat." She started out. She explained everything and said to pick her up at the station. She then hung up. "Well, now that that's done," she trailed off.
I then walked to the curb of the street and sat down on it, I placed my elbow on my knees and closed my eyes.
I felt Gwen sit next to me and rest her head on my shoulder. "I'm tired..." she whined. I nodded agreeing with her.
Gwen was still wearing my sweatshirt, so she was pretty warm. I was still warm too because it was still pretty warm now since spring is ending and summer is coming.
"Hey, what's the date?" Gwen asked.
I pulled my phone out and took out my calendar, "It's May 10th." I answered.
"And when's the four year essay due?" Gwen asked again.
Realization hit me, "Shit." I cursed quieter this time. "It's due Wednesday." I confirmed.
"How many paragraphs do you have?" She asked me again.
"Why are you interrogating me?" I asked wanting to change the subject.
Gwen pulled her head away from my shoulder, "We are partners, we should be working on this together." She stated.
I sighed, she was right. "I have my first essay about my four years done. We just need to combine them together and then we're done." I said.
"That's good."
"What about you? Are you done?" I interrogated her back.
"Yes actually." She said proudly.
I smirked, "Okay." I then saw head lights come from behind the trees. "There's Natalie." I sighed, I got up and help Gwen up.
"How are you going to get home?" Gwen asked as Natalie pulled up.
I shrugged, "I'll walk."
"Walk? Zac it's practically one in the morning!" She exclaimed. "Plus you don't have anything to warm you up!" She exclaimed again.
I grabbed her shoulders, "Gwen, I can take care of myself." I reasoned with her.
"At least take to sweatshirt back." She begged. She started taking it off.
My eyes widened, "No, I'm not taking it back since you don't have anything under it." I pushed her shoulders down before she could show me her chest.
Gwen's jawed clenched, "Please be safe." She said.
"Aren't I always?" I removed my hands form her shoulders and took a few steps back.
"No your not." She gave me a look. I smirked and started walking back to my house.
"See you tomorrow Sunshine," I said still smirking.
"See you tomorrow Mental." She laughed at the nickname she gave me and got into Natalie's car. They then drove off leaving me in the dark.
