Oakley's POV
I slowly opened my eyes and saw Violet in front of me. She was asleep, with her arms curled up to her chest. She looked so peaceful. Like nothing was wrong. But, of course, something was wrong. What she told me yesterday is heart breaking. I really should tell an adult but she wouldn't trust me. Whatever. If I can let an adult help, I'll help. I'm not letting Violet go back to her dads place. I don't care who tries to stop me, but she isn't safe there.
I got up, careful not to wake Violet and tiptoed to the door, when I heard a sound. "Nyeh." I turned around and saw Violet tossing and turning, before she opened her eyes. "Good morning, Vi." Vi was a cute nickname, right? My nickname was Oak. Like Oak tree. That's lame. "Hm? O-oh, morning." She looked like she was panicking on the inside. No idea why, but it just seemed like she was. "I uhm spent the night here?" I nodded. "Oh.. my mom is probably worried about me. I sh-should go." I frowned. "Awwh, really? Can't you stay just a bit longer? Please? Just message your mom or something." I didn't want her to get in trouble with her mom, Belle, since I was scared what she'd do to her, so might as well stall. She sighed. "I guess." She took her phone out and began to text someone, assuming it was her mom.
"Alright. I can stay over for a while. What do you wanna do?" She asked. I sat back down next to her, then tucked a couch piece of her hair behind her ear, which made her cheeks turn light pink. "My moms probably making breakfast, ya hungry?" She nodded. "Come on then." I took her hand and lead her downstairs.
My mom was in the kitchen, a plate of waffles, next to a bottle of syrup. "Oh, good morning, sweetheart, I didn't know you had a friend over. I'll serve you both breakfast, go take a seat."
And so we did. Soon after, my mom gave us both a plate of waffles which each had 2 waffles on then. She put the syrup in between us, along side some whipped cream, then gave us both a glass of milk.
"Thanks mom." Violet nodded, as if saying thanks as well. "Anything for my precious soon to be 14 year old boy, and his friend." She smiled. "It's almost your birthday?" Violet asked. I nodded. "It's tomorrow, actually." Violet looked excited when my mom motioned Violet to go over to her. So she did and they started whispering about something. No idea what, but when she came back, she had a huge smile. Violet drowned her waffles in syrup and added some whipped cream. Guess she had a sweet tooth. I chuckled to myself.
After breakfast, my mom had to go to work, so she kissed me on the forehead, waved bye to Violet and left. We sat down on the couch in the living room. There was a pretty big space in between us. I turned on the TV and we began to watch some random movie. It was pretty boring and I could tell Violet didn't like it, but we ended up watching the whole thing before I turned the TV off.
During the movie, I guess we started moving closer towards eachother, because all that empty space was gone. "Hey, Violet?" She turned to face me and I lost myself in her eyes for a while, so she just said "Yeah?" I snapped out of it. "What do you think about me?" Her face turned a bright pink. "Well- you're really nice, you've always been so nice to me, and you're funny, hilarious actually, and I guess you always know what to say. And, well—" she got very quiet, and looked down. "I like your eyes... and your hands are always so warm in mine, and your hairs perfect too, so I guess I'm saying you're very handsome and cute and yeah.." I held her chin and lifted her head up. "Oh, really? Thank you." Our voices were really quiet now, for some reason. "Wh-what do you think about me?"
"You're sweet, adorable, smart, I guess a bit shy at first, and you didn't really want to say anything, but that just made me wanna hear your voice more. Your chocolate brown eyes just make me wanna melt." Our faces were inches away from eachother. My heart was pounding loudly as I closed my eyes and pulled her into a kiss.
I had just kissed the girl of my dreams.
