It's safe to say, that Violet Parks had no idea what was happening. She didn't know why on earth Oakley would even become her friend, let alone kiss her. Violet was an outcast, and with Oakley's charm and nice looks, he could easily become one of the popular kids. But no, he decided to become friends with Violet and kiss her. Was he already friends with the popular crowd and this was just to humiliate her? Violet didn't know what to think. It was— suspicious. Violet was known as the school freak, the only one who was sad most of the time, and for good reasons. But when she was with Oakley, she felt— happy. She's felt happy before, yeah, but it was different with Oakley. Oakley gained some popularity during the week, being the new kid and all, but for some reason, paid no attention to it. He looked like he genuinely enjoyed hanging out with Violet and Quinn, when he could've ditched them for the popular crowd. It was odd, and Violet just wondered why he didn't leave them. Maybe, Oakley actually liked their company? That could be the reason. Maybe he was just pretending? It didn't seem like he was. And he wouldn't go as far to kiss her if he was. Maybe this was the start of something new.Oakley's POV
Once I pulled away, Violet looked shocked. Like really shocked. I wanted to say sorry, as I just did that without her permission, but I really didn't feel sorry about it. Of course, if she was bothered I'd apologize, but I really did want to kiss her and apologizing for it would make it seem like it was a mistake.
Violets entire face was pink and her eyes were widened. Almost as she couldn't believe what just happened. "Vi?" I said, in a concerned voice. "Say something." She opened her mouth to say something and after a while, she finally did. "Why— why'd you do that?" She questioned. "I um— well, I don't really know. I just did without thinking."
I really had just kissed her without thinking. One second, I was saying what I thought of her and the next, my lips are on hers. "I- are you bothered that I did that?" With a shy smile, she then replied with. "N-no." I could feel myself start to smile too. Just her answer made my heart flutter. "I know this is early, taken that we just met Monday, but um.. do you wanna go out with me? Maybe this Monday? Taken that we don't have school and all, since it's a PD day..." Violets face lit up, but still had a tint of red.
"I'd love to go on a date with you." My smile became wider, if that was even possible. "There's this new diner opening up, we could maybe go there?" Hopefully it wasn't a trashy diner. If it was, I'd immediately take her out of there and find a classy restaurant for her. A princess like Violet was not spending her Monday in a trashy diner. "Sure. But for now, what do you wanna do?" She asked. "Let's just talk. I know a lot about you, and you know so little about me. Let's change that. Ask anything you want."
"Okay.. well.. hm. I've told you about my family. Tell me about yours." I took a deep breath. She trusted me and I guess I'd just have to trust her, even if family isn't something I enjoy talking about. "Well, hmph. I was born in New York, to a mom and a dad. My dad was very distant and didn't even come to the hospital when I was born because he had work. He's missed countless birthdays and anniversary's all because of work. That's all he cares about. Then when I turned 5, my mom had enough and divorced him. She kicked him out and I've never seen him again."
I honestly could care less about my dad. If he didn't want to spend time with us, why would I want to spend time with him?
"Oh, I'm sorry, Oakley." What was she apologizing for? "Don't be. That just adds another thing to the list of what we have in common! We both have assholes for dads!" Violet giggled.
We spent the rest of the day, just talking and we both ended up falling asleep on the couch. I woke up a while later to the door opening and slowly opened my eyes just a crack. My arms were around Violet and she was nuzzling her head on my chest. I glanced at the door and saw my mom come in. I shut my eyes again and I felt my moms hand run through my hair. "Night Oakley. Tomorrow is gonna be a very very special day." I let the darkness overpower me and I was soon back to sleep.
The next morning, I woke up from a air horn to the ear. I jumped off of the couch and onto the ground. I saw Quinn laughing his ass off. "You should've seen the look on your face! Thanks for the air horn Miss. Matt!" I was very.. confused. Why was Quinn here? And where did Violet go? "What're you doing here?" I asked. "Wow. Rude. No 'Hey Quinn, nice to see ya!". And to think I cancelled my date for this. Ungrateful swine." Quinn joked. "And it's your birthday. I'm taking you out, but after that comment, I'm not sure I should anymore." Quinn teased. I ignored his comments, he was so shy before but I guess when he got used to us, he started acting more like himself. "Where's Violet?" Quinn rolled his eyes. "Y'all didn't invite me to this cuddle session, how rude." My face turned red. We were still cuddling when Quinn walked in? "You look like a tomato. Violet went home, she needed to get somethings and reassure her moms that she was still, ya know, alive." He chuckled then continued, pouting. "You both were having a secret sleepover and cuddle session without me!" I sighed.
"Sorry Quinn, I was gonna say I'd invite you to the next one, but you blew an air horn in my ear and now you're second guessing about taking me out for my birthday." If Quinn was gonna joke around with me, I'd joke right back. "Nah, I wouldn't wanna be third wheeling. Sure, you both aren't a couple yet, but you sure act like one." Once again, my face turned red. "Go get changed, you tomato." I shook my head at Quinn then ran upstairs to get ready.
I brushed my teeth, took a quick shower (where I got soap in my eyes even though I shut my eyes very tightly), then dried up. I brushed my hair so it swayed to the side, then changed into a white button up with yellow vertical stripes. Then, I went back downstairs.
"Took you long enough. C'mon, your mom is driving us to the ice cream parlour." Quinn said, as he tapped his foot. I couldn't tell if he was impatient or maybe that was just a habit. "We can't invite Violet?" I asked. I really just wanted to see her. Quinn scratched the back of his head "I called her but she said she was busy.". I nodded, clearly disappointed. But I guess she needed some space, of course she couldn't be with me every waking hour but that'd be lovely. What am I thinking? I'm acting like a creep.
So with that, we left the house for the ice cream parlour. But the events that happened next, were very surprising.
