Shawn looked through the binoculars after me, "That looks like them." They were at a tall building a few miles from us. "I think that's a hospital." Shawn mumbled.

I left Shawn, and hurried over to Valerie, "I think we found them."

Valerie took the binoculars from Shawn, and after a minute she turned to us. "That's them. We will scavenge more tomorrow then go back and tell Charles."

Valerie went back to the others and I laid down. Shawn joined me, wrapping his arm around me. "Just breathe Lainey, everything will work out fine." He whispered.

I closed my eyes, "I hope so."

When I woke up, it was still dark. Judging by the moon, it was an hour or so before sunrise. Instead of trying to go back to sleep, I quietly got up and walked over to the edge of the roof. The binoculars were still sitting there so I grabbed them to see what the men were up to.

They had fires burning on the roof and some lights were on. They must have solar panels or generators. There were men with big guns walking around.

I noticed some of the men on the top floor getting riled up, so I focused on that floor. That's what I saw them. Martinez and his group were standing there with men pointing guns at them. They looked like they were tied up and had gags in their mouths. My heart is thumping out of my chest, I can't believe they caught them.

Suddenly, Martinez started charging at one of the men. But before he could get to him blood sprayed everywhere and he hit the floor. Someone shot him.

"NO!" I shouted, beginning to panic.

"Lainey, what is it?" Shawn asked from behind me. He sounded panicked too.

"They got them! They shot him!" I rambled on. Shawn took the binoculars from me and looked.

"Shit. Is that M..." Shawn trailed off.

"It's our people. They caught them, and they shot Martinez. I watched them." I was trying to calm down. All of the commotion woke the others up and they were standing around us.

Valerie took the binoculars and a few second later she spoke up. "Pack up, we've got to go. A few of the men on the roof are looking this way. They could have heard Lainey shout." We all went back to our sleeping areas and began packing.

We climbed down the fire escape quickly and got to the horse's. "Stay close since it's still dark. We don't need anyone getting snuck up on." Valerie commanded, climbing on her horse.

As my horse ran, I was finding it very difficult to carry a bat and not fall off. After this is all over it wouldn't hurt for me to take a few riding lessons.

"Dead ones ahead." Valerie called back to us. I sat up straighter, trying to ready myself.

"Be sure to keep them away from your legs." Shawn said, riding up beside me. I nodded and turned my attention to the rotters ahead of us. It was a large group of them.

"Try to just run through." Valerie yelled, kicking her horse. I commanded my horse to run, as soon as a Rotter came up beside me. I swung my bat at it's head. I didn't kill it, but I knocked it to the ground, giving me time to get away.

"Let's go!" I commanded my horse again. She picked up some speed, when suddenly I was pulled from my horse. I hit the ground, landing hard on my left shoulder.

"Lainey!" I heard Shawn yell. I tried to get up, but the Rotter stumbled and fell on me. I heard more yelling around me as I held the snapping Rotter off of me.

I watched Valerie come up on her horse, and stab the Rotter in the back of the head. It fell limp and I pushed it off of me. Valerie jumped off her horse and grabbed my left arm to pull me up.

"Ahh!" I shouted in pain.

"We gotta go!" She yelled pulling me to my horse. Before we could get to my horse, rotters swarmed it.

"No!" I shouted, but it was too late. The rotters tore into her.

Shawn road up and pulled me up on his horse. Valerie got back on hers and we ran while the rotters were distracted.

The sun was coming up as we reached the bunker gates. "Open up!" Valerie yelled. The gates opened and we hurried through. Guards greeted us and took the horses back to their stables.

"Shawn, I think my shoulder popped out of socket." I moaned. He touched my arm and I crumbled to the ground. "Son of a bitch!" I hissed.

"Okay, come on. I'll get you to the hospital."

When we got into the emergency room, Shay spotted us right away. "Jesus Christ, Lainey! Whay happened now?" Shawn helped me onto a bed.

"Her shoulder popped out of socket." Shawn told her.

"I need to look at your shoulder. I'll try to pull your shirt off, is that okay?" I nodded, I just wanted her to get it over with.

Shay tried to pull my shirt sleeve down.

"Ah! Stop." I shouted. "It hurts to much."

Shay grabbed some scissors, "I can cut your shirt off then."

"Do it." Shay cut at my shirt sleeve and pulled it off of my arm. She examined my shoulder.

"Oh yeah, it's popped out for sure. After I set it, you should feel immediate relief." She grabbed my arm and pulled it hard. I almost screamed, but the pain only lasted a few seconds.

"God that hurt." I groaned.

"It will be sore for a few days but you will be fine." Then she jabbed my chest. "STOP getting hurt." She growled.

"Thanks Shay, I don't know what I would do without you." I hugged her.

"Stop hurting yourself and you wouldn't need me as much." She joked. Shay handed me a shirt and I slipped it on. After a moment of silence, Shay spoke up again. "What happened out there?"

"We found those men in the city. But they have our people."

"Oh man." She mumbled. "You two should probably get back out there and see what their plans are."

"Okay, we will see you at home later." I said, then Shawn and I left the hospital.
