Mickey's POV
The day of visiting my parents in Osaka finally came as I got down from the bus.
"Are we there yet?" The girl standing beside me asked while fixing her short hair after she slept on the whole bus ride.
I forgot I brought Ayumi here.
She's also here since she refuses to spend a week alone in the apartment. Her puppy eyes together with the signature pout always work, leaving me no choice but to bring her too.
"Just a couple of walks, we'll be there." I replied, looking ahead of the street. I started walking, Ayumi trailing behind.
It was a quiet journey, the sound of footsteps and my wheeled luggage moving roughly on the ground can only be heard.
Ayumi was probably looking around the sights of Osaka when she mutters some 'oh's as I was looking ahead, making sure we're in the right path.
I stopped walking, the peach haired female being unaware and bumped to me.
A breath of relief, I finally get to see at the place where I grew up once again.
"You live here?" She asked, lips parted in shock. Her head tilted sideways, analyzing the house gates. "You're kidding, right? This is heck huge!"
I knocked, and after a few moments one of the maids finally opened the wooden gate and welcomed us.
We took the first step together and Ayumi almost fell to her knees the moment she saw the landscape was bigger than the main gate.
"This is like a shrine!" She pointed at the individual small buildings that are connected with wooden paths that we are currently stepping on.
The exterior is shrine inspired afterall. My dad just have a slight liking with shrines.
I waited for her dramatic comments to finish patiently and started walking.
We passed by the pond with ducks which I saw were ducklings last time. Time really runs faster than we expected.
We finally reach the old fashioned living room, sliding off our shoes and dropping our bags in a particular corner.
"So the interior isn't modernized? Do you get lost here? Cuz it looks like a maze."
"Nope." I shook my head and sat on the carpeted floor.
"Are your parents here?"
"They'll be here around evening. They still got some stuff to do." I brought out my phone from my pocket and saw noticed it was still afternoon.
"Since it's still early, wanna do something?" I asked, fiddling the Ciel Phantomhive keychain I got from an anime con in my phone.
"Can we walk around? Just in case I get lost."
I stood up and showed Ayumi around though I know she'll forget it sooner or later. After that, we watched some anime in her laptop while waiting.
In the middle of our marathon, her stomach started to release a silent growl. We looked at each other for a moment and laughed.
"I think there's still some rice cakes in the fridge. While I'm in the kitchen, don't do anything baka, okay?"
After her nod, I made my way to the quiet kitchen and saw a close-to-fresh rice cakes in a container.
I smelled it before bringing it to the living room. "Here it is."
I sat down at my usual spot just against Ayumi. We ate rice cakes while finishing all the anime left in her laptop.
"That teared me up, damn it!" She sniffled, grabbing the last pieces of tissue in the box. I removed the ear plug in my left ear, and noticed the crickets making their sound. It's evening.
Just in cue, the gate creaked opened revealing my mom, retreating to the house with her bag hanging by her shoulder. Her face leaving a wide smile.
I greeted her with a hug giving me a tighter one. "Okasan."
I courted her to the living room and there she saw Ayumi. She saw her last time, when she visited our apartment in Tokyo a few months back.
"Good evening, Mrs. Aishi." Ayumi bowed after standing up.
"No need to do that, Ayumi." My mom lets out a quiet chuckle, her calm aura not leaving.
We talked for moment while the maid served us drinks. Sadly, my father has some work to do by the rest of the night.
I led Ayumi to the room we'll be sharing, my old room. We walked in, and surprisingly everything is still in place.
It brought back the memories I had when I still live here in Osaka. This is my ultimate comfort zone ever since.
I prepared two bed mats while she puts our luggage aside before we left the room for dinner.
