"Oh great! Our shower room's faulty," One of my team members grimaced, "Anyone know if the dancers are occupying their shower room today?"
"They shouldn't be, they finished early today," The other replied, "I'm going to the swimming team's shower room anyway. My friend will be lending me her key."
This school doesn't have many options when it comes to shower rooms. There's only 5 shower rooms in our campus, with each shower rooms only mounting to 5 cubicles each. The school provides one shower room for the boys, one for the girls, one for the swimming team, one for the dancers and one for the gym members. For the amount of sport players in the school, it's not enough. The girls' shower room hasn't been working properly recently and it's only now that it stopped working altogether.
"It's annoying that Cheer team and the Field hockey team doesn't have their own shower rooms," A girl beside me remarked as she zipped her PE kit closed. She hung her hockey stick bag by her shoulder and smiled at me before stepping out of the changing room. Tell me about it, I thought to myself.
"The dancer's shower room is available to use, coach lent me the key!" Another member of the team emerged from the doors and held a key out excitedly.
"Breyar!" The girl who just entered, in the name of Erika, exclaimed. I was actually surprised that she wanted me to use the shower room when there are still a bunch of us waiting around for a miracle. We weren't close, but she was that nice to acknowledge my needs.
I scurried to tidy my things. I shoved items here and there and into my locker. I hung my sports bag that had my change of clothes on my shoulder as I followed Erika to the dancer's shower room along with 3 other hockey members behind me. It didn't take long before we reached the dancers' shower room.
"Just place your bags in the corner over there," Erika instructed, "I'll go on ahead." She added before disappearing into one of the shower cubicles, 2 other girls also disappeared into their own respective cubicles leaving the last two of us out here. There was only one vacant cubicle in the front.
"Sige, mauna ka na," Tinuro ko ang libreng cubicle sa unahan. Umusog ako sa sulok para padaanin siya.
"Salamat, Breyar," Ngiti niya, "I'll be quick."
"Oh! Hey, Breyar," Tawa niya, "Fancy seeing you here. In my territory." She added as she rubbed her hair with a towel. Her form stood with so much confidence.
I rolled my eyes. Klarice leads the dance department's choreography making. She is very influential around the school, hence, her connections with people is nothing to laugh at. She has this massive network and everyone pretty much knows who she is. Her name is spread across the campus in three ways: one, she's part of the student council; two, the posters she is in, and three; the fact that she's a bully. She's primarily popular in the eyes of students in the same year as her - me included, the younger students and our male seniors.
"Mag ingat ka, Breyar," Babala niya, "Isang araw, kahit tingin lang, hindi mo na magagawa sa akin."
I scoffed as I stopped on my trails, "Klarice, don't be deluded. As much as I would want to, I couldn't. Unfortunately, my time is precious and I wouldn't want it wasted on someone like you. I thought you knew that," I gave her a wide, sarcastic, smile, "I didn't think you needed a refresher course."
