It's Sunday, the day after the funeral, and I wake up wrapped in John's arms in my room, a girl could get use to waking up like this. I try to wiggle out his arms to go some breakfast but his hold tightens and he groggily says, "stay," I check to see if he's still asleep and he is. I surrender and put my head into the crook of his neck and entangle my legs in his. I start to drift off to sleep only to be rudely awakened by the a knock on the door, actually a bunch of knocks on the door. John wakes up and says, "door."

"I know, do I look presentable enough to get the door," I gesture to my baggy clothes and bed head as I stand up.

"You look beautiful, as usual," my blush creeps up my cheeks again and I look out my window to see who it is, oh hell no! I feel the anger showing on my face and John sees it, "who is it, Serena?"

"Nate."

Now the doorbell is ringing repeatedly.

I moan loudly, "Should I call the cops?"

"No, hold on," he leaps from the bed and 10 seconds later I hear the door slam. I look through the window to see John punching Nate and shouting at him, Soon Nate leaves and I see John heading back inside, soon he comes back into my room, "you okay, Serena?"

"Yep, be right back Sully," I grab some clothes from my closet and go change in the bathroom. Once I've slipped into the black bikini and a blue coverup, I return to my room. "Wanna go swimming?"

"I don't have a bathing suit here but I can go home and get one, be back in a few minutes," he kisses the top of my head and leaves.

****************

"Cannonball!" I scream as I jump into my mom's pool. Once I pop back up to the surface of the water, John attacks me, grabbing me by my waist, slowly bringing our heads closer and closer, until our lips are about to touch-----

"When all you gotta keep is strong, move along, move along like I know you do-"

I climb out of the pool and pick up my ringing phone from the lounge chair.

"Hello?"

"Serena?"

"Yes, who is this?"

"It's your dad. I want to see you and explain some stuff and--"

"Oh no, no, no- you don't get to explain anything, you left us, you broke our hearts and what? Now you think you can come back into the picture? Guess what, you can't. By the way mom died about a week ago. Bye."

"Wait--"

I hang up on him, only to find my phone ringing again so I turn it on silence.

"Okay," I say as I jump in the pool, "back to where we were."

I walk up to him and start leaning my head towards his, and right as our lips were fixing to touch, he ask a horrible question, "who was that?"

I sigh, "my dad, the abandoning jerk."

"Do you want to talk about it?" He gently grabs my chin and makes me look into his eyes while rubbing his thumb on my cheek.

"There's not really much to talk about. He left us and made us feel like crap. And now he wants to tell me some crappy excuse, which makes me insanely angry."

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be, it's not your fault."

"Serena, will you go out with me?"

"I'd love to."
