I wake up to find 2 new messages on my phone, the first is from the Agency of Celebrity Bodyguards(really, just for celebs-what is the world coming too?) telling me that I'm off for a month- the thing about being a off and on again bodyguard is the amazing off time, the second is from my mom telling me that I need to come home.
I call my mom to tell her I will start driving there now. If I drive fast enough, I can get to Oklahoma in 7 hours. Goodbye, sunny Cali, I'll miss you. I hook up my iPod to my car and blare my tunes.
"Used to your baby, used to a lady, thought you were the perfect lover......."
How to save a life by the Fray comes on and I sing with it as I speed down the highway.
2 hours pass by then 3, 4, 5, 6, then 7, almost there, back in my hometown.
I hear sirens, crap!
I look to see what speed I was going, 50 in a 35, crap again!
I turn off my music and pull over. A dirty blond haired guy wearing sun glasses comes out of the dusty old cop car. He gets closer in my mirror and I realize he's very muscular. He finally arrives at my window.
"License and registration please."
"Yes sir," I say as I hand everything to him. He pulls off his shades, unmasking green eyes with gold and brown specks in them. Wait a second-I know this dude.
"Do I know you?"I say causing him to look at me for the first time, I pull off my shades revealing my purple eyes.
"Serena?"
"John."
John is my childhood friend, we lost touch when I went off to college in California.
"I'm sorry for speeding, I just got caught up in my music and I was worried, my mom just told me that I have to come home. How are you? I'm rambling, aren't I?"
"Oh god, she didn't tell you, did she?"
"What? What happened?"
"I'll let her tell you. Anyways, How are you?"
"Good. You?"
"Good. It's almost time for my break, wanna get some coffee and catch up?"
"Sure, I have been driving for 7 hours so coffee is definitely awesome right now."
"Why didn't you just fly?"
"Me and airplanes? No, just no, only when absolutely necessary."
"Still terrified of them huh?"
"Yep. So meet you at Denise's?"
"Yeah."
He gets into his cop car and starts driving ahead of me. Funny, the boy who always sped, is now a cop.
I know this is a short chapter but I will try to make the next one longer. Thanks for reading.
