The wolves retreated back to their cave. Ever since they had been kicked out of the pack, they were struggling to survive. Any animals that had lived nearby were gone. The wolves were the strongest ones there was. They hadn't lost a fight yet. But since everyone around them was dead or escaped, they had to go searching for their food. They hadn't eaten in a week and now they had found a group of five animals, they had seen them meet up in a field of dead rabbits and walked off, they stole a few rabbits while they were there and followed after them. They eventually lost sight of them but waited in the area until three of them came past and they chose to stalk them. They waited in a bush and watched them, "If we want to eat, we need to get rid of the bear. He'll protect the others and stop us from getting what we want." Suddenly the bushed parted and the bear stood there. They pounced and tried to get rid of him but he kept knocking them away. Then they saw the perfect opportunity. The bear was distracted by his friends so they bit him. The bear roared in pain and collapsed. But before they could get to the other animals, the dog knocked them down. Everything went black. When they came to, the animals were limping away. They woke their sibling and stalked them again. They came across a tree house which seemed to be their home. They hid in a bush again, but the dog seemed to spot them. He quickly returned to the home. They had now found food and a new home. The wolves retreated back home to think of some plans.
Jay woke up, he hadn't realised that he had fallen asleep. He felt something warm and strong surrounding him, realising that he was in the safe arms of his boyfriend. Thanks to his small size, he managed to slip out of his grip and approached one of the windows. A cool breeze brushed against his soft fur, he glanced outside and saw the sky glistening from the stars and moon. He quickly checked over his boyfriend before going outside to platform. He sat on it and stared at the sky, getting lost in his thoughts. Jay was pulled back to reality by the soft sound of paws on wood. He turned around and saw Kai watching him, slightly concerned. "Jay? What are you doing up so late? That's my thing." "Sorry, I couldn't sleep." "Are you ok?" "What?" "Are you ok? I mean, it must be tough seeing your boyfriend like...that." "I guess I'm a bit shaken but I'll be ok." He gave Kai a small, fake smile. "You don't have to lie to me ya' know." "...How...?" His smile dropped, it had always worked before, even on Cole on some occasions. He felt his tears rising, he refused to cry, he didn't want to worry anyone. "Jay, please, tell me the truth." Kai came closer, and gave him a supportive smile. "You can trust me." The barrier broke, the tears came in floods, Kai immediately held his friend close. "I'm so s-scared. W-What if he doesn't get better, what if he gets w-worse?!? What if he dies?!?" He starts crying harder, and buries his face in Kai's chest. "I can't...I can't live w-without him..." Kai strokes his ears, remembering that Cole told them that it helps calm him down. "Jay, look at me. He will be ok. He's all bandaged up and he be up and running in no time. He doesn't want you to worry. Trust me, Cole will be fine." "Kai?" He turned towards the familiar voice, it was said bear. "What are you doing?" "Come here for a minute." Cole slowly limped towards Kai and saw his boyfriend crying in his arms. "Jay? Jay, what's wrong?" The bunny looked at him, tears streaming down his cheeks. He let go of Kai and clung to Cole, like a koala. He looked at Kai, the worry was obvious. "He's worried about you, like really worried. He's scared that he'll lose you." "Is this true?" The bunny gave a short nod, staring at the floor. Cole scooped him up, "Jay, I'm not going to die, ok? I'm right here with you and that's how it's going to stay." Kai left the two lovers to sort things out between themselves. Zane woke up when he entered into their room. "Kai...?" "Yeah, its me. Sorry for waking you up." He climbed onto the bed and gave Zane a quick kiss. "Are you alright?" "Yeah, just a bit worried." "Why, what happened?" "Jay got really upset, thought that Cole was going to die." "Oh, is he alright?" "Think so, he's with Cole right now." "Then you can stop worrying and focus on getting some sleep." He pulled the blanket over his tired boyfriend and fell into a deep sleep, snuggled next to him.
