Nya opened her eyes but everything around her was black, it was too dark wherever she was. She waited for a few minutes for her eyes to adjust to the low light. Once they did, she looked around and saw her friends. All of them were lying across the floor, unconscious, or so she hoped. She crawled towards Zane and saw a scratch or two on his wings. She thought about waking him but didn't want him to get scared or hurt himself, she left him be and crawled over to Lloyd. The golden retriever didn't seem too injured but he did have a few bruises, Nya left Lloyd alone and approached her brother. She crouched down next to him and checked him over. What she saw nearly made her cry. He had scratches all over his body and he had a long, deep scratch on the back of his head, which definitely had been bleeding. She covered her mouth with her paw to stop herself from crying out. Whoever had done this to her brother, was going to suffer. Some movement behind her, snapped her out of her thoughts. She looked behind her and saw Zane had woken up. "What...? Is anyone there?" Nya crawled back over to Zane and placed a paw on his wing. The falcon nearly shouted in surprise, "Calm down, it's me, Nya." "Oh Nya, you scared me. Where are we? Why can't I see?" "I don't know where we are, and you can't see because it's dark, just give it a minute. Then you'll be able to see." She then realised what Zane would see. It would probably break him. She quickly crawled back over to Kai and checked to see if he was breathing. Which, thankfully, he was. She let out a sigh of relief and returned next to Zane. They whispered to each other, being careful of what they say incase someone was listening. After a while Zane's vision adjusted and his eyes explored the room, he saw Lloyd and Kai and almost cried. He tried to fly over to them but as he flapped his wings, they began stinging and he stopped immediately. "You ok?" "My wings hurt? What happened to us?" "I don't really remember I just remember getting hit over the head and black. But your wings are scratched up." Zane moved his wings to have a look at them but again they stung and he didn't. "What about the other two, are they hurt?" "Lloyd has a few bruises and... Kai..." "Is he ok? Nya?" She didn't respond but Zane couldn't help but notice the tears in her eyes. Zane walked over to his boyfriend. "Zane, wait." He stopped. " Yes?" He was just confused, what was wrong with Kai? Why wouldn't Nya tell him? He is his boyfriend after all. Nya stayed silent again. Zane sighed and continued towards his lover. But what he saw...It broke him. His boyfriend was in such a terrible state, that he just couldn't comprehend it. He broke into tears, blurring his vision. Nya was by his side in an instant, crying as well. "I'm so sorry, Zane. I couldn't bring myself to tell you. I...He might be ok, he is breathing. We just need to get out of here. And he'll be ok." Zane nodded and wiped away his tears. "Guys...?" They turned around and saw the golden retriever sitting up. "Lloyd, you're ok." Nya crawled over to him and wrapped him in a hug. "Once Kai's awake, we're leaving." "What about Cole and Jay?" "They aren't here, they're back home." They both looked confused. "How do you remember?" "What, you guys don't?" "Nothing." "Well ok, we were out looking for food when we got ambushed by the wolves that attacked Cole. They knock us out, but I don't know what they did to Kai. I didn't stay conscious long enough." "At least we know what happened to us." "Isn't this going to worry Jay and Cole? I mean Jay worries over the littlest things so..." "You're right, we need to get out of here as soon as possible." The three of them stayed near Kai and watched over him, coming up with multiple escape plans.
Back at the tree house, Cole had just woken up, he let Jay sleep. He was surprised to see that no one else was home, especially since it was dark out. "Zane? Nya? Kai? Lloyd?" But there was no reply. He began searching around their rooms in hopes of finding anyone, but there was no trace of any of them. He limped into kitchen and there was barely any food. A wave of panic washed over him, they hadn't returned. His friends were still out there, in the forest at night. "Cole? Why are you running around, you need to rest." He saw the panic on his face, "Cole, what's wrong?" He stayed silent, he knew what his boyfriend's like and he didn't want him to get worked up. "Cole. Please tell me." "The others, they aren't back yet." The bunny's ears drooped as he rushed out the room. The bear sighed as he watched his lover sprint around the house. "Where are they?!? They should be back by now!" He checked outside and saw the night sky, and no friends. He was so worried that he was willing to jump out the house and go searching. "We need to find them," Cole noticed how close Jay was to the edge and quickly pulled away him from it. "Wait until the morning, then we'll go searching. They might just be a bit late." Cole tried to persuade him away from the idea of searching at the dead of night. But the bunny was determined to find his friends. He walked around to the back of the house where he'd been working on a slide that let him and the others get down without using the lift. It wasn't completed but he didn't mind. "Cole, stay here in case they come back. I'll look for an hour, if I'm not back by then, then you can come look for me." Before Cole could respond, Jay jumped onto the slide and slid down. Cole called out to his boyfriend, but he didn't respond. He quickly got on the slide and went down. As he reached the bottom, he noticed that the end wasn't as close to the floor as he would've liked. He jumped off the edge and saw a fluffy tail disappearing into the forest. He ran after him, ignoring the searing pain emitting from his ankle. He slowed down, the pain was getting too much, and he had lost sight of his beloved bunny. He leaned against a tree and slid down to sit. He was exhausted, he felt like curling up into a ball and sleep. But he couldn't do that, what if something happened to Jay? He sighed and waited hoping for his boyfriend to return and hopefully with his friends.
