The five of them had arrived at the base of the mountain, the sun was just setting and they were all exhausted. They had started setting up their tents when they heard gunfire. They froze in place and glanced in the area where the shots came from. "We need to hide." Cole picked up Jay and hid behind a bush. Zane flew up into the trees and hid behind some leaves. Kai and Nya hid behind a giant boulder. Lloyd didn't move, even though he wanted to. He was frozen in fear. He stared in the direction of the gunfire and some of the bushes parted, revealing Garmadon, his previous owner. Garmadon locked eyes with the dog. He pulled out his gun and aimed for his head. Lloyd whimpered in fear. If he ran behind the bush, he would reveal Cole and Jay. If he ran behind the boulder, he would reveal Kai and Nya. He stayed still and watched as his owner pulled the trigger. He braced himself for the bullet, but it never hit. Zane flew down and picked him up and flew back into the tree. Garmadon fired the gun and smiled down at the ground. But frowned when he realised he missed the dog. He glanced upwards and saw a falcon and the dog.He aimed again but a pair of foxes crept up behind him and both of them bit his legs, so he missed them both and fired at the tree. The cubs let go of his legs and the man fell to his knees. He glared at the fox cubs and tightened his grip on his gun. He aimed again. He pointed the gun to the female fox and the male quickly tackled her out of the way and behind a tree. The cub growled at the man and prowled towards him. The others watched on as Kai pounced at the man and tried to bite him. The man shoved him off of him and grabbed something from his pocket. Kai, however, didn't notice this and pounced again. He only noticed something in his hand, when it was too late. The hunter had a dagger in his hand and swung at the cub. He cut the cub's side and he collapsed. As soon as he hit the fox, the falcon flew down and knocked the man over. He distracted Garmadon which gave Nya enough time to give the hunter a deadly bite. The fox refused to let go, despite the man's many screams of pain. Eventually, Zane had to pull her off of the man. Unfortunately for them, Garmadon was still alive. Once the mad fox cub was off of him, he pulled himself off of the ground, picked up his gun and dagger and ran off. Cole laid Jay down on the ground and walked over to Kai. Thankfully he was alive and his cut wasn't too deep. Cole helped him up and held him, just in case he collapsed. Zane flew down with Lloyd and Nya tackled him in a hug. She was pretty close to crying. Zane grabbed some bandages and wrapped up his boyfriend. Once he was bandaged up, he gave him a kiss. "Are you Ok?" "Yeah, it hurts a bit but I'll be alright." "Lets finish up with the tents and then we can rest." Kai went to pick up a pole but felt a sharp pain in his side. He hissed in pain and dropped the pole. Cole came up behind him and picked up the pole instead. "Sit down Kai, you can't do this while you're injured." "But-" "No buts, you need to rest it. It will only get worse if not. I should know." "Fine." Kai sat down next to Jay, he made sure no one was looking and then hugged the bundle of blankets. But it turns out Lloyd caught him in the act. "Don't worry, we'll get him back soon." Kai jumped and let go of Jay, he began blushing in embarrassment. "Also, we've finished with the tents, you can go sleep now." Kai got up and went into his tent, though before he entered he turned his head and glanced at their fallen friend, and then he turned around again and entered the tent. Zane was already in there, placing down their sleeping bags. He crept up behind him and hugged him from behind, making the bird jump. "Oh Kai, it's just you. You scared me." He snorted, "Come on we need to sleep, we've got a long climb in the morning." The two of them climbed into their separate sleeping bags, and drifted off into a pleasant sleep. Cole went into his own tent carrying Jay with him. He laid his fallen lover down near the entrance of the tent. He crawled into his sleeping bag and drifted off into a dreamless sleep. Nya and Lloyd had to share a tent, but neither of them minded. Neither of them could sleep, they were both slightly on edge. They could've lost another friend today, and if that fountain wasn't real. They didn't want to think of what could happen. They both tried to fall asleep but sleep just wouldn't come. So they spent most of the night talking. Eventually they fell asleep but they barely had any. Once they were woken up by Zane and Kai they nearly fell asleep again. But Kai jumped on top of them both and that definitely woke them up. The five of them stood at the bottom of the mountain, ready for the journey ahead of them.
