Truth and Awakening (17)

Louis' POV
After showering, changing and eating some lunch, Mum drove me back to the hospital. She was hesitant at first, but eventually agreed. She dropped me off at the front and I went in through the lobby. The TV was on a news channel. "In other news, a teenage girl was attacked in an alleyway and left for dead. Our source informed us that the girl is Hillary Wilson and that she was saved by her school bully. Hillary is in the hospital and more details will be revealed at a later stage"

Hillary is on the news. If I'm right about Reece, this isn't good. Not good at all. I rushed into Hillary's room to find only Serena and Matthew in there with her. "Louis, I think it's best you leave here. You are unwanted here" Matthew said. "Sir, I need to talk to you. Both of you actually" I said. "Louis, leave. Please" Serena said, upset. "This is about Jessica and Marcus' death" I said. Serena tensed. "Jesse told me the story which got me intrigued so I did a bit of research" I said. "Then you would know that we are not actually their Grandparents" Serena said. I was taken back. "Uh, no. I didn't know that. That was not in the articles" I said. Matthew face palmed.

"Nice going sweetheart" 'Matthew' said. "If you're not their grandparents… who are you?" I asked. "My name is Kevin Kensington. This is my wife, Vivian"  'Matthew' said, pointing to 'Serena' when he named her. "We were Scotland Yard, but retired before we were assigned the Wilson case" Kevin said. "You mean, it was Reece Owen's men that killed Hillary and Jesse's Parents?" I asked. "It's all true" Vivian said.

"If you're not Serena and Matthew, then where are they?" I asked. "Serena died giving birth to her last child and Matthew had a heart attack a few years ago" Kevin said. "What about Karen?" I asked. "She's their biological aunt. She asked if she could just keep an eye on the kids and see them to keep up our cover. Family has to see family" Vivian said. "All this time, Jesse and Hillary believed that you were their grandparents and they never knew the truth" I said, a little shocked. "We do love them. Over time we grew to love them" Kevin said.

"Did you ever find Reece?" I asked. "Nothing. After a few years we thought that Reece had given up looking for them, but we kept it going just in case it was part of Reece's plan" Kevin said. "When were you going to tell them that this was all fake?" I asked. "When Reece was behind bars and the kids were safe" Vivian said. "And here Hillary is, lying on a hospital bed in a coma" I said, feeling terrible. "It's not your fault Louis" Vivian said. The news popped back into my mind.

"Hillary's on the news" I said. "What? Vivian said, panicked. "Down in the lobby. A lady was talking about what happened to Hillary. She even named her" I said. "If Reece was watching, she's in danger. We're going to have to move" Kevin said. "You're just going to leave? Hillary is in a coma and on life Support. Disconnect her and she may die" I said. "We know! And we don't want that to happen. Kevin, go find Jesse. Take him home and tell him to pack. Be ready to leave as soon as Hillary is awake and cleared to leave" Vivian ordered.

Kevin nodded and left Hillary's room. "What about you?" I asked. "I'm staying here to watch her" Vivian said. "Then I'm staying with you" I said. "No Louis, this is too dangerous. Go home, play with your sisters, hang with your friends, go to school, do whatever I don't care, but forget Hillary. Reece will kill anyone that stands in his way" Vivian said. "with me on your side, you have one more trick up your sleeve" I said. "Why do you want to protect Hillary so badly?" Vivian asked. "I like Hillary, more than a friend that is" I admitted. "Your mother already had to go through losing Marcus, I don't want her losing you to" Vivian said.

"You… you know about my mum and Marcus?" I asked. "You know about Marcus and Jay?" Vivian said, shocked. "Yes. Why do you think I hated Hillary so badly? Her Dad broke my family up" I said. "You bullied Hillary… because something happened before she was born?" Vivian said, looking at me like I was crazy. "I couldn't exactly have my revenge on Marcus, could I?" I said. "Okay, I see your point" Vivian said. Jesse came running inside. "Granny, we're moving?" Jesse asked. "Yes sweetie. Your grandfather and I think it's best after what happened in the alley" Vivian said.
