Louis' POV
I woke up to shouting outside the room. Hillary was still out. I stood up and stretched my stiff arms and back. The chair was not something I'd like to sleep on again. The door banged open and there was Jesse Wilson, Hillary's older brother. "You! What did you do to my sister!" Jesse shouted at me.

"I see you got my message from last night" I said. Jesse punched me in the jaw and I went down. "Calm down man, it wasn't me! I found her in that alley and called an ambulance" I said. "You tried to drown her the other day!" Jesse said, quietly. "I know, and I'm sorry" I said. "Sorry? You're sorry? Why would you be sorry?" Jesse asked. I went quiet. I couldn't tell him I liked his sister, he'd kill me.

I leant against Hillary's bed to help myself up off the ground. Jesse grabbed my collar and threw me to the other side of the room. "Don't you dare go anywhere near Hillary! I'm not losing her too!" Jesse yelled. "Losing…what are you talking about?" I asked. Jesse sat down on the end of Hillary's bed. "I lost my parents when I was four. Hilary was only 2" Jesse said.

"Not many know the whole story of what happened that night. Especially Hillary" Jesse said. "Jesse, what happened?" I asked. "Why should I tell you? You did this to my sister!" Jesse said, pointing to Hillary. "It wasn't me, Jesse! I swear!" I said. "Why would I believe you?" Jesse asked. "Because if it wasn't for me, Hillary would be dead" I said. Jesse sighed. He signalled me to sit down.

I sat down on the chair and Jesse stared at me. "Mum and Dad were driving up to visit Nanna and Grandad's one night, Mum's parents. I don't remember why, since I was only 4 at the time. It was cold, dark and raining. Mum and Dad were arguing in the front, Dad didn't want to be taking us with them. Hillary was asleep in the backseat with me. We had be driving for about an hour before Hillary started crying. Mum said to give Hillary her unicorn, so I went looking for it, but I couldn't find it. I searched mum's bag, dad's, my own bag and Hillary's but I couldn't find it. Hillary cries got louder and Dad got angrier. He turned around to the back and started yelling at Hillary. Next thing I know, the car's upside down and Mum is dragging me out of the car. She laid me down beside Hillary, who was quiet. Mum told me to protect Hillary no matter what. There are dangerous people out there and we needed to be safe. Next thing I know, I'm covered in blood and Mum was… " Jesse stopped. "Headshot" I said. Jesse nodded.

Jesse was crying and shaking. "I tried to wake Dad up he wouldn't. Hillary and I were all alone, in the middle of a highway. Luckily, someone came along and stopped when they saw the crash. They called the police and an ambulance but it was too late. My parents were gone, and it was just Hillary and I. Aunt Karen wanted to take us in, but Granny and Grandpa insisted. Aunt Karen was pregnant at the time and on her honeymoon, so my grandparents took us in" Jesse said, finishing his story.

"You've protected Hillary brilliantly" I said. "I wasn't able to protect her from you, though. I never even knew that you were bullying her" Jesse said. "I promise you, I won't ever hurt her again" I said. "I spent my whole life blaming myself for what happened to my parents. I sat through years of therapy and I took up boxing to protect my sister" Jesse said. "If Hillary knew all of it, I know she'd be proud" I said. "You're sure you don't know who would hurt Hillary?" Jesse asked. "No, not a single clue" I lied. I just might, but I'm not sure. Not yet.

"How are Serena and Matthew?" I asked. "They heard your message. Granny is in tears and Grandpa is at home comforting her" Jesse said. "Go be with them. They need support. I promise not to let anyone hurt Hillary" I said. "Call me if there's any changes" Jesse said, walking to the door. "The second" I said and Jesse walked out. I looked at the unmoving body of Hillary Wilson. "Look at you, Hills. I can't believe someone would do this to you, and after all I put you through. I'm sorry, Hillary. I really am. God, if I could turn back the clock and fix this so I never started hurting you, I would do it. Then you wouldn't think me as a monster and maybe, just maybe… you would like me the way I like you" I said. "I've got to call someone, but I'll stay in here" I said.
