I flinched when she placed her hand on top of mine, but the line she said made me draw it away from her completely.

"I hope you're not trying to say what I think you are," I said, and she scoffed.

"And that is?"

"You think that you taught me not to be anxious, but you're wrong," I stated, this time gazing straight into her eyes. Her pupils widened in surprise and she covered her mouth with her plum nails.

A small snort escaped her lips and she shook her head at me, waving one finger in the air.

"Jungkook, you never used to talk. I helped you break out of that shell of yours and you started to make more friends. So are you trying to say I didn't help you become less anxious? Results show otherwise," she stated, pointing to each individual person in the class that was my friend.

Her eyes narrowed once she got to Yugyeom, and her nose wrinkled as if he was a pile of trash on the street. I could feel the muscles in my face tightening up and I sighed, all of the memories from the past flashing back into my brain.

Please stop.

"Seriously Bitna, are you still not over it? He's my best friend," I stated, rolling my eyes.

"He still hasn't apologized," she stated, her voice stiff with an underlying emotion I couldn't decipher.

My eyes bulged, and I tapped my ears to make sure I had heard correctly.

"You're crazy," I said, "Don't you remember what you did?"

"What I did isn't as bad as what you did, Jeon Jeongguk," she said, her voice like an edge of a knife.

"You betrayed me," she stated as if it were a well-known fact. Her words froze my brain, hindering it useless against her speech.

Like a curtain being drawn to block the sun, silence became an immediate outcome of her simple sentence. A singular thought kept replaying through my mind as if it was a broken record player, and I just wanted to shout:

You're so wrong.

But I wasn't able to. Her words continued.

"But, we should continue on our project, shouldn't we, partner?" she said bitterly, yet a smile was still lingering on her face. I wasn't sure whether I should even bother with arguing with her at that point.

So I went along.

"We should."
