"I'm going to her table to find out," Yugyeom said, "Do you want to go or not?"
I hesitated in my seat, one side of me curious to know why she wasn't there, while the other side didn't want to walk up to her friends to ask directly.
But, the side of curiosity won me over and I steadily got up from my seat, walking with Yugyeom to her table.
The comparison of noise from other tables to theirs was much smaller, as only Hana and Seulgi were talking to each other, Seohyun just listening along.
As soon as we were in several feet of them, they tilted their heads to look at us, their eyebrows raising.
"Hello, Hana, Seulgi, and Seohyun, do you have any idea where Jia is?"
It was quiet for a few moments after Yugyeom asked the question, his words being suspended in the air as the girls tried to figure out how to respond to it.
Hana looked at Seulgi with hints of apprehension in her face, shown by her subtle lip bite and rise of both eyebrows.Seulgi sighed, her tongue poking through her cheek as she responded.
"She's with Sangchul."
Sangchul?
Who's Sangchul?
"Who's that?" Yugyeom asked for me, the skin between his eyes wrinkling as he set his hands on the table.
Once again, a silence that lasted for a time longer than it should overtook the table. Yugyeom's eyebrow arched the longer it lasted until Seohyun broke it with a blunt sentence.
"He's her friend," she said, and then under her breath,
"if friends acted like that."
The other three that were right next to her didn't hear what she said, as they started to talk about something related to it as she said it. But, I was able to just catch the statement slip out of her mouth.
And confusion came along with it.
What is she talking about?
"If you want to find her, just-" Hana started but the bell rung, and the sound of the bell and of all the students getting up and cleaning their messes drowned her out of our ears.
Hana lifted her hands in defeat, and we nodded, saying our thank you's before going back to our table to clean up. Yugyeom and I glanced at each other as we walked, the same thoughts and ideas running through our minds.
"That was really weird," Yugyeom stated first, "They were talking as if they didn't know what they were talking about."
"Not even," I added, "It was something else. It was more like they didn't know how to say it like there's something, wrong, or something like that."
"Like it was forced?"
"Yeah, I guess," I said, "It was too strange."
"Yeah, and who the hell is Sangchul? Has she mentioned him to you?"
"No," I said, never remembering the name popping up in any of the conversations I've had with her.
"Do you know what that means?" Yugyeom said, his eyes glinting with mischief.
"You have more competition," he stated, and I sighed while my face glowed over.
"This isn't a competition. He's probably just her friend too," I replied, but as soon as I said that, I remembered what Seohyun muttered.
