Chapter 8

Everything is numb, I can't feel my body. Hindi ko maigalaw ang katawan ko, but I can hear the sounds of the machine and the doctor's talking.

Gusto kong malaman kong ano na ang nangyari sa'kin. I know I'm still in the operation room. Pilit kong binuksan ang mga mata ko and I was successful. I finally opened my eyes but it's blurry

All I can see is green and the brightening light. I am wearing an oxygen and even though it's blurry I can see the doctor's and nurses still doing their job, though I can't see what they are doing.

I scrutinized everything in the room, maraming nurses at doctor ang nakikita ko. I slowly turn my head on the side, may nakita akong tao nakahiga din sa kama katulad ko. Mom said my donor is a girl.

Bakit parang kilala ko siya?

Nakasuot din siya ng oxygen kagaya ko at marami ding doktor ang nakapalibot sa kanya. Whoever she is, I thank her on my mind for giving her heart to me. I don't know her reason for giving it but thank you.

I smiled at her and slowly closed my eyes.

"I love you so much, Xyrone. Please, remember that."

"Thank god, you're awake anak!" Mom exclaimed as I woke up and hug me.

Ngayon lang ako nakahinga ng ganito. I can breath properly, hindi na sumisikip ang dibdib ko. Everything feels okay now. Inalayan ako ni mommy para maka-upo ako sa kama. She held my cheeks and kissed me in the forehead.

"Welcome back, anak." She said and I smiled at her.

Napahawak ako sa dibdib ko. I have a new heart and a new life, that means a new beginning. But the way my new heart beats is—I don't know. Parang pamilyar siya sa'kin.

I shook my head, baka nanibago lang ako. This is the first time that my heart beats normally, maybe I'm just exaggerating, I can get used to this.

Days passed, nakalabas na ako sa ospital sa wakas. It's almost a month since I got out, everything seems surreal. I still can't believe that I am here, alive and kicking.

Good news is, nakapasok ako bilang varsity sa soccer. Sobrang saya dahil nakapasok ako, It's like a dream come true for me. Noon, nanuod lang ako sa court ngayon ako na ang maglalaro. But, there's one problem. Ka-team mate ko si Steve, ang manliligaw ni France. I know he's mad after what happened in the hospital, that's why he always ignore me everytime we practice. The hell I care, wala akong pakialam.

And France.. I haven't seen her since then. Ni-wala nga akong balita sa kanya, even mom doesn't know where she is. Bigla nalang siya nawala ng parang bula.

"Xyrone!" Pumikit ako nang marinig ko ang boses niya. She's back?

"Bakit nagpakita ka—" I stopped. Nakita ko si Andrea na naglalakad patungo sa'kin. Hindi si France? Bakit parang boses niya.

She handed me a notebook. "Pinabigay ni Ms. Perez" She said and immediately walk away.

Napahawak ako sa ulo. What the hell is happening to me? Bakit bigla ko narinig ang boses ni France?
