With the new, soft yellow dress draped over my body, provided by the people here at Mount Weather, I slowly shuffled back into the main room the forty-eight now occupied, tears slid down my cheeks while I struggled to remain calm. A few people in their bunks lifted their heads up as they saw me walking past them, headed straight for Miller, who stood at the end of his bunk a few feet away, hands straightening out the button-up shirt he wore. I quietly sniffled, earning his attention.
Miller's lips fell downward in a saddened expression when he saw the distressed look on my face. His eyes darted to my brother, who sat on a bottom bunk with Monty, his back to the two of us. I locked eyes with Miller.
"Wren, are you o--" Miller's words were cut short as I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him down in a hug, carefully positioning my face in his neck. Without a moment of hesitation, his arms slid around my back, closing the distance between us, and holding me close to his body.
"Okay, listen," I spoke in a low whisper once I was sure I was hidden from the cameras, snapping out of the act I was putting up. "They are watching our every move and this is the only way to talk without them suspecting anything. I need you to make it look like you're comforting me because I'm upset over our friends being gone."
Quick to follow orders, Miller remained quiet, urging me closer in his embrace with one hand rubbing up and down my spine like he was consoling me. His head angled toward mine, deliberately shielding his facial expressions with my hair. I settled myself into his hold, lightly shaking my shoulders every few seconds to give off the appearance of sobbing.
I paused for a few seconds before I continued, "I'm going after our friends. I'm still figuring how to escape, but you're the only person I can trust right now to understand why I have to do this."
"You mean, you're going after Bellamy."
I cracked a weak smile against his neck. "Octavia, Raven, and Finn are out there, too. A lot of our people are and I'm going after them."
"Are you going to tell Jasper?" He questioned under his breath.
My body tensed at the simple question. "No," I answered after a long pause. I sighed, shutting my eyes for a brief second, hating the fact I'll be lying to my own twin. "I know Jasper. He'll try to stop me if I tell him about this. He trusts the people here. I have to do this, Miller. Bellamy would go after me if the roles were reversed."
Miller softly nodded his head against mine, agreeing with my choice not to tell my brother. "Okay, so, what do we need to do?"
I quietly sniffled, focused on convincing my fellow people and the cameras that I was in the middle of crying. "We need to gather as much information on this place as possible without drawing any suspicions on ourselves. I'm going to try to find a safe way out of Mount Weather and while I'm gone, I need you to run things here. Clarke is seen as a huge threat here and no one wants to associate with her. You need to be the leader."
"Everyone's been talking about how she's ruining things for them here like they are scared we'll be kicked out for her actions." Miller tightened his arms around me.
"She's causing too much trouble for herself, but we are going to use it to our advantage. Their focus will be on Clarke and that means we have a better chance of snooping around without getting caught." I took a deep breath. "When I'm gone, just stay on Dante's good side. If he sees that I trust you then he will trust you as well."
"How do you plan on escaping? They aren't just going to open the doors for you and they have high security on this place."
"I know," I sighed. "I have an idea, but it's going to be tricky."
