{ Chapter Fifteen ]

/ Seven months later /

"Grace, Alexis! Dinner!" I hear Eliza call up the stairs. My belly sticks out farther than ever now. I struggle to push myself out of my desk chair and walk down to the kitchen. Alexis smiles at me, coming out of the bathroom, and follows me to the table. I bend my knees a little to sit, and when my butt finally hits the chair, I sigh in relief and scoot up.

After we say the blessing, we all start to dig in to the food. Eliza cooked so Amanda, the maid, could have a break. She does a great job on everything. We are having roast, mashed potatoes, and green beans.

"So, I think we have decided on a Vacation Bible School theme for this year." Eliza says, covering her mouth with her hand to hide her food from us. "It's all about the rain forest and its animals. Personally, I think it's pretty cool. I mean..."

Eliza rambles on, obviously excited. Alexis's eyebrows come together and she lifts the table cloth, peeking under the table. "Grace, did you just pee?"

I blink, giving her a questioning look, before standing. The chair and my pants are soaked, and a large puddle is on the floor beneath me. "Oh my god, no, my water just broke."

"Excuse me?" Eliza shrieks, pushing up from her seat. "Did you just say what I-"

"Yes." I groan, clutching my stomach. "Can we get moving here maybe?"

Everyone suddenly springs into action, Eliza barking orders at us. "Michael, you get her into the car. Alexis and Caleb, you two get her a bag ready for-"

"No, Mom. I'm going with her." He says sternly.

Eliza blinks a few times before sighing. "Fine. Just go get her in the car."

"What are you going to do? I mean, you need-"

I let out a high-pitched groan as a strong contraction hits me. "I don't care who does what! I'm kind of in labor right now!"

Eliza nods, shoving Caleb in my direction. He slips his arm under mine and helps me walk quickly to the car. I hear Alexis muttering something about toys before Caleb closes the door after us.

Michael slides into the driver's seat, immediately starting the engine and turning on the hazard lights. I bite my lip, trying to hold in a scream as heat erupts in my lower section.

"I know the car can go faster." I snap at Michael, who glances at me in the mirror and speeds up.

"Just breathe, okay?" Caleb says in an attempt to call me down. "I read this-"

"I am breathing, you freaking idiot." I growl, making him tighten his grip on my arm. Hopefully, he knows that I'm talking out of labor.

Another wave pain hits me. My vision goes blurry at the edges and I throw my head back, moaning in pain. "Michael."

"I'm going as fast as I can." He says calmly. There's no way.

Finally, after me being in labor for roughly twenty-five minutes, Michael pulls up in front of the hospital. "I need a wheelchair! My daughter's in labor!" He barks out, helping Caleb get me out of the backseat. I groan as I plop down in the wheelchair. A nurse in scrubs wheels me to the labor unit.

If you have never experienced child birth,

don't.

At the moment, it feels like a million fireworks are erupting in my abdomen and lower half. It's like period cramps, but multiplied by ten thousand.

"I'll need you to change into this hospital gown. Take off all clothes, including undergarments." The nurse says, closing my room door behind her.

"You're gonna have to help me do this." I mutter to Caleb, starting to pull off my shirt.
