{ Epilogue }
I laugh softly as Noah runs around me, being chased by one of his friends. He is turning seven today; we're having his birthday party at Eliza and Michael's house.
I wobble slightly, trying to balance my weight of my pregnant belly between my feet. Caleb hugs me from behind and kisses my cheek. "Noah sure has grown a lot in the past few years."
I smile. "Yeah. He really has." I look down at the wedding ring on his left hand, the one I placed there almost five years ago.
Eliza scoots past us with a bowl of chips and smiles. Her hair has streaks of gray in it. She touches my arm briefly before walking towards Michael.
I hear Alexis chuckle, ruffling Noah's hair as he runs past. She is already seventeen years old. Him and his friends all run and tackle her boyfriend, Grant. She slips an arm around my back and hugs me. "You did good, Grace."
I kiss her forehead like I always did when she was younger. She smiles and leaves to finish the lunch.
Caleb and I watch for a little while before we hear Eliza call, "Lunch is ready, everyone!"
After everyone is done eating, Michael brings out the cake and sets it in front of Noah. I walk up behind him and place a hand on his shoulder. We sing Happy Birthday to him, and I take his picture as he blows out the candles.
"Alright, alright. Family picture!" Alexis says, holding up a camera. Caleb comes to me and my son and we smile for the photo.
He's not my baby boy anymore. I think as the shutter clicks.
But we're going to be okay.
