*╚═══❖•ೋ° °ೋ•❖═══╝*She ran. She didn't know how she managed to escape that hell of a place but she did. She ran back to the dock as fast as she humanly can.
She ran back to see that he was still there, just as she left him there. He was sat on the edge of the dock, his shoes set beside him as he dunked his two feet under the water.
She ran to him, hugging him from the back as she kneeled down. She sniffled while tears streamed down her face and onto his shirt. “I'm sorry.”
“For what?” He asked, his voice was cold like ice. He wasn't mad, just disappointed. He knew it was her without even having the need to look up at her.
“For loving you.”
“For missing you, for caring about you too much, for wanting to always be with you, for always thinking about you, for asking you my only happiness, for leaving you, for not even fighting to stay by your side.”
“For lying when I told you that I still wanted to live.”
His eyes widened, he felt something weird inside him. He felt as if he wanted to hear those words. Like he wanted to hear that she didn't want to live anymore because he honestly felt the same thing as of now.
He stood up, facing her and pulling her in his embrace. He smiled and she saw it. “Do you trust me?”
She nodded, she trusted him to give her the happiness that she's been longing for a long time. She buried her face into his chest, his sweet fragrance entering her nostrils. She felt safe once more.
And then he leaned, backwards.
The water splashed up to the wooden dock, the light brown turning to a darker hue. They felt the water rippling around their clothed bodies.
They were now under the freshwater of the lake that was sparkling under the midnight moonlight. It felt ethereal, magical. They were dying and they felt as if they were close to entering heaven.
They felt the freedom and loving that they were deprived of. They felt amazing.
They opened their eyes underwater, their gaze meeting as bubbles were created around them. They smiled. The loving inside their eyes were completely visible, dilating merely because of each other's presence.
They slowly ran out of breath, the freshwater entering the various apertures of their bodies. Their skin slowly pruned, creating wrinkles and creases.
The smiles on their faces were still crystal clear even with the bubbles blocking their already blurred visions.
They both looked up as a source of luminescence appeared from being the water. The light danced around them, occasionally hurting her eyes as it directed to her.
They closed their eyes as they both leaned in, fingers locking into each other, souls intertwined, hearts beating at once as their lips came in contact.
Their hearts continued beating until one of them eventually passed, it was unforeseeningly quicker and faster than it should be.
He passed away too soon.
