*╚═══❖•ೋ° °ೋ•❖═══╝*He woke up feeling empty. Another family member just passed away, another family member that mattered to him died.
He got out of bed and walked downstairs only to be greeted by the sizzling of bacon strips and the scrumptious fragrance from the kitchen. It was something that he's been missing for a long time.
He took a peek from the door frame only to see that it was her sister. She was wearing a nice, floral dress while an apron was tied around her waist and neck. Her hair was also up on a messy bun.
She looked so, refreshing. Not like the addicted sister that she was after their mother died. She looked like someone new.
She turned around as she felt a presence behind her, a warm smile immediately formed across her features. “Good morning.”
He only sat down at the table, head hanging low. He didn't know what to do, what to believe. He bit his lips in anxiety, his legs unconsciously shaking.
A plate was suddenly set down in front of him, consisting of eggs and bacon. He only stared at it for a few moments, perturbation taking over him.
“Is anything wrong? Do you not want to eat eggs and bacon for breakfast?” She asked him, looking at him with worried eyes as she fidgeted with her fingers. “If you don't like it just tell me. I'll-”
“Why are you doing this?”
“What do you mean?” She nervously laughed. “Am I doing something wrong?”
“Why are you suddenly so nice?” He stood up and locked his gaze with hers, the expression on his face was stern and austere. “You don't usually do this.”
After a few moments, she pulled him in her embrace, tears streaming down her face. “I'm sorry.”
“I'm sorry, my baby. I should've been a better sister to you. To the both of you.” She said, her voice in great tremor. She pulled away and cupped his cheeks. “Can you forgive me?”
He couldn't. After all those times, abuse, harassment, pain. He can't just easily forgive her when she asked for it. Heck, he wouldn't do it even if she begged on her knees. Not right now when he's suffered a lot.
He gently held her wrist and pulled it away from his face. He looked at her once more. “I'm sorry. But I can't forgive you. Not right now.”
He walked away without saying goodbye to her. He left his older sister to suffer for a short time. Just a little more time, maybe he'll forgive her. He has to forgive her. She's family.
He walked away and hoped that she'll be there. That even after he didn't show up for a day, she'll still be there to wait for him.
He hoped that she didn't hate him for that.
