We started out as strangers,
You are an idol but I’m not your fangirl.
Through a common friend, we met at a fair,
And I didn’t even care.
Our second meeting was kind of awkward,
I’m with a friend, and you are too.
You said hi, and I returned with a shy smile,
I didn’t know it would capture your heart.
I was terrified when you confessed,
You said you’d do whatever it took to make me say yes.
As cliché as it sounds, you really did,
And I get it all by saying, “Are you for real?”
I swear I was going to say yes,
But a realization hit me, and so I stopped myself.
You are an idol; you are for your fan girls,
And I’m not one of them, so we’re better off as strangers.
