CHAPTER ONE

*Leaves off after the scene were Hiccup has to kill the Monstrous Nightmare in front everyone.*

"Dad please! Don't hurt Toothless-" Hiccup pleaded.

"Is that what you call that beast?" Stoik interrupted his son.

"Yes, now please Dad, don't hurt him!" Hiccup continued.

                "It nearly killed you!"

                "He was protecting me-"

"Protecting you? They've killed hundreds of us!"

"Yes and we've killed thousands of them!" Hiccup begged his dad not to hurt his dragon. He grabbed his arm as he started to walk off, but Stoik jerked his arm, leaving Hiccup falling to the floor.

Stoik turned around and gave his son an angry glare, "You are not my son, and you are banished from Berk forever. Figure out what side you're on."

Hiccup gasped; the look on Stoik's face was unbarring. He felt a sharp pain in his chest as soon as those words left his father's mouth. There was a silence as he stood up and walked out the door. He tried not to make eye contact, but Stoik wouldn't stop looking at his son with that ruthless glare. So full of hatred, so full of disappointment.

Hiccup's shameful walk turned into a run as everyone's despising eyes stared him down. Some villagers even called names, he just kept his head hanging. As Hiccup reached the arena, he saw his dragon tied up in chains. He knew it would be a hassle to free Toothless, at least no one stood guard. Hiccup sped up into the caged arena, and Toothless' expression perked up as soon as he saw Hiccup, clearly glad to see him.

Toothless happily winced as Hiccup removed all the chains. "Yeah, happy to see you too, bud," Hiccup said to his dragon as the chains rattled and feel to the floor. Once all the chains were off him, Toothless rubbed his head into Hiccup's torso, as if to hug him. Hiccup smiled softly, but his expression soon turned back to sorrow as he gently pushed Toothless off him. "Alright, bud, that's enough. Come on, we're leaving," Hiccup said as he hopped on his dragon's back. Toothless quickly took off out the arena's gates and soared into the sky. The black dragon was extremely excited to be reunited with his rider; his tongue hanging out of his mouth like a dog. He looked up at Hiccup, and immediately knew something was wrong. He grunted, trying to get Hiccup's attention, but grew a bit worried when Hiccup didn't even look at him. Toothless turned his head back to the clouds.

Hiccup couldn't stop thinking about what just happened with his father. A sharp pain ran threw his body with every heart beat. He knew he would be mad, a Viking being friends with a dragon, but disowning him? Banishment? A tear rolled down his cheek at the mere thought of it.
