BACK AT BERK
"Those stupid idiots I'll show them! Now what did Hiccup do to trail Toothless?" Astrid mumbled to herself as she walked through the forest. "Ah what was it what was it?! Oh, fish! Of course!" her expression perked up at ther thought.
Astrid ran to the closest body of water that she knew of, the cove. She carefully slid down the rocks and boulders stuck to the dirt walls and droped to the ground at a safe distance. She walked over to the pond, keeping her eyes peeled for any passing dragons. Astrid took the spear hanging from the side of her belt and sat pasiontly by the water's edge. Once she spotted movment, she struck the spear into the water. She felt struggling on her spear and knew she got a catch. "Yay!' she praised at her success, "No!" she let her shoulders fall as all she cought was a small fish not much bigger than the palm of her hand. She sighed as that would never be big enough for a dragon's likeing. Although it wasnt much, the poor thing was already dead now, so Astrid decided she'll use the small fish as bait along with some other bigger fish. She pulled the lifeless carcess off the spear and put it to side.
It took her at least an hour, but she finally cought enough fish to use as bait! She tied her spear on one rope attatched to her belt, and all five fish to another rope upside down by their tales. She got up and realized the sun was setting. She didn't know if that was good, bad, or just was, so she decided she would continue her search anyway. Astrid climbed out of the cove with a struggle, stopped for a quick breather at the top, and started walking.
"Ugh I'm never gonna find a dragon! It's already started to get dark! What was I thinking, taming my own dragon myself?" Astrid started to doubt herself. Suddendly, the sound of sticks breaking and leaves chrunching arose not far from where the girl was standing. Astrid gasped and dived behind a nearby shrub. She peeked out from the branches to see a sky blue Deadly Natter. Astrid quicked fell back behind the bush. She could feel fear rising in her cheeks. Her heart beat sped up, her breathing got heavier, and her body started to shake.
"Okay Astrid, pull it together!" she whispered to herself. "Here's your chance." She took a fish from her belt and gained the courage to approach the beast. She poked her head out from the bush, the dragon had passed her by a few feet. She slowly and coutiously walked out into the open area behind the dragon. She tried to make the least nois as posible.
Crack! A stick broke under the girl's foot. Astrid cringed as the sound startled the dragon. It quickly jumped around to face her, it's body lowerd to level with her's, it's wings spread out far, and it's tale squrpioned over it's back with it's spikes out and ready to shoot.
