CHAPTER TWO
It was dark now. The two have been flying all day without a single word, a single trick. Toothless was now very concerned about Hiccup. Usually he would talk to his dragon about whatever was bugging him, but not this time, not now. The upsetting atmosphere nagged at the dragon to whole time.
How could he do that? Hiccup thought. He must really hate me…he must have always hated me. More tears formed in his eyes as he searched the waters for an island. “Down there, bud,” Hiccup pointed to a large, dark green area in the ocean. Toothless made a sound as he turned and flew down to the earth.
The dragon landed in a clearing in a forest. Hiccup slid off the reptile’s back and looked around. “It’s pretty late Toothless, we should get some sleep,” He spotted a cave and nodded to it, “Guess we’ll be sleeping in there.” Toothless whined as Hiccup started toward the cave, he followed.
Toothless abruptly stepped in front of Hiccup with his head titled and staring into his eyes. Hiccup stopped and sighed, then let his head fall into the Night Fury’s neck.
“I’m sorry, bud. We can’t go back…we’re banished.” More tears ran down his face. He put his hands on his neck and looked up at the dragon’s face. For once it seemed Toothless didn’t understand, though it did look like he knew Hiccup was upset. For some reason, the sight of Toothless’ face just made Hiccup more upset; he started to bawl and fell back into the dragon’s neck. He wrapped his arms around Toothless in a tight embrace.
Once Hiccup pulled it together, the two of them laid down. Toothless curled around Hiccup as if to comfort him and moments later, they were asleep.
