Imagine a really good quote here because I couldn't find one and if I went searching for one this chapter would take longer to update. P.S: I have a math test tomorrow that I didn't study for and instead, I'm posting this chapter. Also, check out my other story! https://www.wattpad.com/story/147906612-to-love-is-to-destroy

"Jace?!" I ask surprised. "Why are you calling me?"
"I talked to Thomas. He said you were an important thing in my past and I should remember you. He also said that I may not remember you not because you weren't important, but because my brain refuses to remember some who I hurt and who hurt me. Whatever that means." Jace says on the other line.
"Well, what do you want me to do?" I ask.
"When did we meet?" He asks.
I smile with the memory. "It was in high school. We were in the first day of senior years and we were both at a café near school. I left some sketches there and you came after me to give me. I told you my morning routine, the time I had to wake up to go to school. You didn't believe in me so, the next day, you came to pick me up. We started talking and we easily became best friends."
"What happened after high school." He asks.
"You wanted to go to college. You needed to follow your dreams. I never believed in high school romance so we never dated, but we were close. The day before you left, you came to my house. You promised me you'd wake me up so I could drop you off. I woke up that day and you were gone, leaving your ring and a letter for me. We didn't talk much after until we saw each other again, a week or so after the accident." I tell him.
"What did Aline do?" He asks me.
"Thomas already told you. You should trust him, he never lies." I say.
Jace doesn't say anything for a while.
"I'll call you later." He finally says and hangs up.
1 year later...
Jace and I never talked again after that call.
Everything has changed. I am back in NYC now and I am going back to my art gallery.
"Jonathan!" I say as I see him. I drop my bags and run to him, hugging him. "I missed you so much!"
"I missed you too sister. How was Italy?" He asks, hugging me back.
"Amazing!" I say with a big smile.
"And that guy, what was his name? Cameron?" My brother asks.
"We dated for a while but broke up before I went to Scotland. It was a bad idea because the flight was like two hours." I say.
My brother chuckles and then he grabs my bags.
The whole ride home, I was telling my brother about Italy and Scotland. He told me he had a date tonight so he was having dinner out.
Since I'm alone, I decide to go to the bar near my house. I look at the time. 9pm. 18th January. Jace's birthday. Last time I was here it was exactly one year ago.
I look around. The place is almost empty. Almost. Of course, a golden haired was there.
"Keep them coming, Joe." I heard him say across the bar. His voice tired and bored. I could barely hear it, it came out more as a whisper. The bartender, Joe, poured a little bit of a brown liquid on the glass. This is exactly what happened last year.
"What's your excuse for this year?" I ask as I approach him.
He looks at me. Dark circles under his eyes. Pale face. Messy hair. "What do you mean?"
"Last year it was your grandma. What's this year?" I ask.
He laughs bitterly. "You don't get it, do you?" He shakes his head and turns to me. "I come here every year on my birthday since I was 15. Always here, with Joe pouring some liquid on my glass. It doesn't matter how I spend the day, I'll always come here at night."
"That's sad. The Jace I knew in high school would do that but he would never see how many people are there for him, how many people love him. That's probably why you come here." I say.
"I found out about what Thomas was telling me. It was right in front of me. Not even my fiancé wants me, she just wants my money." He says.
"You have Alec, Thomas, Izzy. You even have me." I say. "So stop pushing people away, because, eventually, they won't come back."
"Leave me alone, you know nothing." He says.
"Let's go, you're coming with me." I say.
"What?"
"You heard, come on. Last year you were in an accident because you decided to drive.Well, my house is near and I'm home alone." I say and grab his hand.
We walk to my house and, when we get there, I give him water so he can sober up. We order a pizza and lay on the couch watching movies, just like high school.
But, unfortunately, this isn't high school. The golden haired doesn't remember me and I can't do anything about it.
I was falling asleep. He was being my human pillow like in high school. I felt my eyes heavy.
"Oh and I forgot to tell you." He suddenly says.
"What?" I murmur, almost falling asleep.
"I remember everything."
And then I black out.
