Third Time Lucky?

I fell asleep in the car and woke up on the floor in Mello's sitting room.

"What the fuck!" I yelled as I sat up.

Mello looked at me from where he was working on the couch.

"Bad dream?" He asked.

"Yeah... Why am I here?"

"You fell asleep there last night," He said with a shrug.

"So you just left me here?"

"I put a blanket over you," He pointed out.

I pushed the blanket off me and got up to sit beside him.

"So what's on the agenda today?" I asked.

"Catching Kira."

"Yeah, I know that," I yawned and then groaned. "I'm tired, mallow."

"It's Mello," He glared at me.

"Right. Can we do something different today?"

"No!"

I was silent as I became more awake and realised I'd dreamt of his death again. Yet he was sitting right beside me. I decided to ask him about his plan, I couldn't have dreamt it twice while not knowing. Or had I had a dream within a dream?

He suddenly elbowed me, sharply, "Oi, pay attention!"

He outlined the exact same plan and this was just getting too weird for me. He told me to make tea and get some chocolate.

"Where are your manners?"

"I don't have any. Now get to the kitchen, woman!"

"Oh, you little shit!" I kind of half sat on him and pinned his arms against the back of the sofa, then I pretended as if to knee him in the balls. He laughed and then yelled for help. I laughed too and he pushed me off him.

"You're getting far too cheeky, girl," He scolded me, but he was smiling.

"Yeah, anyway..."

*Timeskip brought to you by Matt who wasn't home to save Mello from me*

We were all back where my dream had already brought us twice. I was watching the monitors again. I'd started to wonder though, was I in some parallel world? I wouldn't rule out the possibility of such things, I never thought I'd get involved in one, but if I was then maybe I could save them.

How though? What was the key?

For now I'd just watch and damn no, I had to act! I grabbed the head mic and warned Matt of a route away from the bodyguard's cars. If it was the same as before, he should be safe this time.

I watched as that woman got on the bike behind Mello. I grunted at the sight of her so close to him. Only I should be that close to him. I wished, anyway. What was I to do now?

"Mello, are you there?" I asked over the headset.

"I'm busy!" He replied and the connection went.

I couldn't get it back and I realised it wasn't a glitch, he'd just switched it off.

"You fucking doorknob!" I shouted as I stood up and ran out to go to that damn church again, where I'd probably find him dead. At least I'd saved Matt, but I needed to save Mello too.
