But lucky for me because Mello was born on 13th December.

I waited until Mello and Matt left to do their grand plan, then I left too and walked to the church that was Mello's final destination. He wasn't headed there yet and would take a detour to be safe, so I had enough time to get there first and put my own plan into action.

All I could see in my mind was his face as I'd last seen him. He was smiling, his face full of joy, not because he was about to help catch Kira, but because I'd just told him that I love him. We only had time for a quick hug and kiss on the lips before he had to leave, he promised more later, though I knew there was no later for us. I was happy though, I'd finally told him I felt.

I'll always love you, Mello, wherever I'm about to go.

I arrived at the abandoned church and went inside. I sat on the steps of the old altar, took a chocolate bar from my pocket and ate it. Then I sat there running my hands over my old rosary beads and praying for Mello.

There wasn't a proper roof, so I saw the vortex open up above the church.

Goodbye Mello.

My final thoughts as I set the old building ablaze.

"And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had"
