Ninth Try

The guys lived but I had to warn them again the following day. I didn't mention the time loop because I was too tired to have the same conversation again.

Matt had left in his car to start the plan and Mello had just changed into his motorbike gear.

"Why are you staring at me?" He asked when he came out of his room.

"Because you're gorgeous," I replied honestly.

"What? You're here to work for me, not for some romantic shit."

He glared at me and my heart broke.

"Yeah, sorry," I mumbled as I walked away from him to sit down.

I felt so stupid. Matt must have been wrong, Mello didn't feel the same, why would he? I was nothing, just a tool to help him solve the case for the sake of his ego. I had the memory of kissing him, but he didn't. My eyes filled up with tears and I didn't realise he hadn't left until he sat beside me and held my hand.

"I'm sorry. I like you, I want you. I'm just scared."

"I know. I'm scared too. But I want you, I want you so much. Mello, I -"

I was interrupted when he kissed me. It was such a sweet relief to taste his lips and mouth again. The taste of chocolate, the taste of Mello... I couldn't get enough. I tried to pull him closer and he moved his mouth away from mine to invite me to his bedroom.

We went further this time, we did everything and it was amazing. We were cuddling afterwards when Matt called him.

"Oh uh, sorry Matt. No, I didn't carry out my part of the plan, I kind of got distracted. Thanks for your help though."

We went back to kissing and cuddling until Matt got back. He came looking for Mello and found us in bed.

"Wait, this is what you meant when you said you got distracted?"

Mello grinned and bit into a bar of chocolate.

"Dude!" Matt high fived him and left us alone again.

Mello cuddled into me and his eyes started to close. I held him and thought about what I could do next. I had to save him. He'd survived today but tomorrow was another day of the same shit.

It was time to end this.
