I Fell In Love With A Merman [Joshler]

The next morning, I jumped out of bed as quickly as I could. Thank god I didn't wake up any of my family. I packed a bag filled with crabs. I didn't know what kind of seafood Josh would like, but whatever.

I quietly walked out through the door out to the beach. Instead of walking, I ran. I wanted to see Josh. He was so beautiful when I first met him, that beautiful orange tail and pretty brown eyes.

When I got to the sea rocks, I found Josh curled up against the seaweed crying. I came to his side.

"Josh?"

He whimpered and flinched.

"It's the good human." I assured him.

Josh slowly lifted his head up and saw me.

"Tyler...the good human."

"Yes Josh it's me."

Josh sniffed.

"Family...not happy with me."

"Why are they not happy with you?" I asked.

"I did something...I don't know what...I did. But it was bad...and it makes me sad."

"Do they still love you?"

Josh started crying again. I lifted him onto the rocks and put my hands around him.

"It's gonna be okay." I told him.

Josh looked at me so beautifully.

"Will it?" He asked. "If I...come see...Tyler each day, it will...be okay?"

"Of course." I replied.

I rubbed his hair. Josh loved it.

"What's...in bag?" He asked.

I opened it up and held out a piece of crab in front of him.

"Tyler holds a crab." He said. "Mermen like crab."

"Would you like one?" I asked.

Josh reaches out and takes it.

"Eat it." I tell him.

Josh put the entire crab into his mouth. He enjoyed the taste.

"I like it." He said; smiling.

I chuckled.

"I have a whole bag of crabs if you'd like more."

"Tyler need to eat more than Josh." He said.
"Mermen eat...then they don't eat."

"I see."
Josh jumped back into the water.

"Can Tyler swim?" He asked.

I was afraid I wouldn't impress him. I never enjoyed the ocean. Never at all. So I lied.

"I'm not a good swimmer." I said.

"I teach you." He said. "Mermen and mermaids...good swimmers."

"I shouldn't. I-"

"Tyler! It's time to come inside!"

I turned to Josh.

"I'll come back tonight." I told him. "Will you be out tonight?"

"I'll try." He said. "I teach you when...Tyler comes back...tonight."

I smiled. I grabbed the bag.

"See you tonight Josh."

I watched him swim across the water and back into the ocean.
