I don't want this life anymore. I don't want to be a human anymore! I want to be a merman. Mermen are free. I want to be free. I want a fishtail.

I stood in front of my mirror.

"I'll gonna disappear from here tonight."

Once night arose, I packed my things, along with my keyboard and ukulele. But then, I realized, I wanted to be a merman, I would never see my family again. So I left behind a note for them and kissed each one of them on the forehead.

My family,
I don't want this life anymore. I'm never going to be free. So I'll find freedom my own way.
I still have love for you guys. Thanks for showing it to me in this world.

I walked out of my house to the beach. I didn't bother to bring shoes. I didn't really need them. I'm going to become a merman.

When I got to the sea rocks and sat down, I stared at the fishes swimming in the water.
Then I realized, maybe I could make myself into a merman. Then I thought about it.

Here I come
Come to you
In the very clothes
That I killed
Killed you in and
Now I know I'm alone

I walk to you
Rain falls from you
Can you wash me
Can you drown me

drown...Drown...DROWN!

I want to drown. I want to drown my old life and become a merman. If I did that, then my feet would change into a fishtail. But as I stepped into the water, Josh appeared from under.

"Tyler." He said before kissing me. "You came back."

"I did." I replied. "But I ain't supposed to be here."

"Why...good human...not allowed...to be here?"

Josh asked.

"Because I was forbidden to do so. But I snuck out. And I ain't going back."

I placed my hand on his hand.

"Never again."

"But...good human has...family. Tyler...your family...will miss you."

"They will." I replied. "Because I'll never be human again."

Josh looked at me, confused.

"I'm going to become a merman. I going to give up my feet for a tail."

"How will...you do that?"

I widened my eyes.

"I'm going to drown."

Josh slipped away from me. When he heard that I wanted to drown myself, it was almost like the world crashed before his eyes.

"Tyler...you don't...mean it. Do you?"

"I want this." Tyler said. "Being human means not getting your freedom. I want to be free and live in the sea."

I placed my hands on his cheeks.

"I want to be with you."

When I went to kiss him, he pulled away.

"You can't do this!" He yelled. "I will not...let Tyler die!"

"It's not dying. I'm becoming someone else."

"Drowning is not gonna turn your legs into a fishtail!" He shouted. "If good human dies, I die."

"You don't understand!" I shouted back. "Once I'm fully submerged into the water, I'll give my human soul for a merman's soul."

"No!"

Josh turned away, sobbing.

"I won't let you die."

I slipped next to him.

"I'm not going to die." I said.

However, when I tried to reason with him, he touched his chest and disappeared back into the water. I looked down to see him swim away.

Josh swam as fast as he could. He felt his heart like it was shrinking from him.

Eventually when he got to the coral reef, he looked at himself through the mirror. He saw how his chest was glowing. His heart was bleeding.

"We tried to warn you Joshua." His merman friend said.

He turned around and looked at him.

"You gave yourself up to the human, now your life is coming to an end."

Josh touched his chest, his heart was creeping away from him.

"You're going to die by sunrise."

Josh collapsed and wept. His life is going to disappear from him. But then he remembered.

"Tyler"
