Due to an accident just before the Lowry Tunnel, it took Sabine 90 minutes to get home from 3M. Restless fingers tapped the steering wheel to stave off falling asleep. Between Kirk's assault, words with Clive, anxious dreams, worry continuing to mount about Prince...everything was taking a toll. Sabine yearned to escape to the person and the place that always cleared her clouded mind and brought her back to center, abuela and Belize.
Upon entrance to her studio, the alarm sounded giving her quite the start almost forgetting that it was installed. It was a relief to know Clive wouldn't be here when she got home. She doubted that he paid much attention to Randy spouting off the the passcode and password. He was too fumed about it to even pay Randy any mind. Distance is what she needed from Clive, his vile words specifically about how she should have just remembered to lock the door, weighed heavily on her mind. No matter how sugary his words were that followed it couldn't erase the initial callousness.
She set the alarm to stay no delay while locking the studio door. Popping the refrigerator door to find something appealing, she opened a bottle of wine and downed a half a glass which made her even more sleepy. Right there on the cold marble breakfast bar she laid her head down gently and fell asleep only to be jolted awake after a vision of the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Friday, April 22, 2016, front page.
"NOOOOOOOOOO!" Screaming, chest heaving and tears erupted quickly and poured down her cheeks, she cried aloud surveying the kitchen which felt eerily still, unlike her heart that was thumping wildly out of her chest. Caught between a dream and reality, she tried to get her bearings and understand the message that was sent, there was no mistaking it as it was adamant and crystal clear.
Breathily she repetitively whispered, "Oh shit. Oh shit. This...this can't happen. No...no...oh Lord take this back."
Barely able to swallow because of her hard sobs and an inundation of questions, her head was too muddled.
"How can I even call him?" I can't just go over to Paisley. What if Kirk is there?"
To calm the ensuing chaos she tried to think of what would settle the rumbles.
Jolted by her cell ringing, a familiar voice instantly pacified her scatterbrain.
"Why haven't I heard from you?" The loving and soothing voice slowly brought Sabine's breaths to a steady rhythmic hush and heart rate to a rest but the worry remained.
"How did you know I needed to hear your voice?" She moaned exhausted once again by her unyielding thoughts that were now wreaking havoc with her physical health.
"Mmmm...you are coming eh?"
The line went silent. There was no way Sabine could disguise her feelings with a fake smile or insincere cheer in her voice. Sabine's chin and lips quivered violently and eyes spilled with tears.
"Abuela I don't know what to do. My life right now isn't...well it's not how I envisioned it. He..."
"Bring him to me love. Let me help him."
