▪HENRY▪
I have never taken a girl to the place I'm taking Maci.
She seems a little bit nervous but I can't tell her where we're going. I want it to still remain a surprise.
As soon as we pull up, a man comes and opens up my door as another one does the same for Maci and helps her out of the car.
I hand the keys to the valet and then take a hold of her hand and we begin walking inside the nice restaurant.
The doorman opens the door for us both and we walk inside and head up to the hostess.
"Good evening Sir. Is just the both of you?" The girl asked us.
"Yes." I replied and then as the girl looked Maci up and down with disgust, I just wrapped my arm around Maci's waist and pulled her closer towards me and then we followed the hostess towards our table.
After being seated and handed our menus, I glared at the hostess before she could say or do anything she'd regret, she noticed me glaring at her and just walked away.
Maci looks all around the restaurant in amazement.
"This is beautiful." She says.
"I'm glad you like it." I reply.
She opens up the menu and the first thing I notice is the look on her face as soon as she see's the prices. Although before she says something and as she looks up from the menu at me, I quickly assure her it's fine.
We order and begin talking to each other and continue from last night in getting to know each other more.
Then after getting our food and talking some more, I see out the corner of my eye one of Arthur's guys, Ron. talking with one of the employees.
Luckily, Maci was too full to have dessert so I paid and we got up and left, luckily without Ron seeing us.....Or so I thought.
As soon as we got outside and were waiting for the valet to bring my car to us, I heard Ron's voice behind me.
"I didn't expect to see you here." Ron says.
Maci and I turn around and I take in a deep breath and let it out to make sure I don't get mad.
Little did I realize that I was squeezing Maci's hand tightly.
I then look at her, "I'm sorry." I mouth to her before easing up my grip and then looking back at Ron.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him knowing damn well he hates coming to this city.
"I have a cousin who works here. What are you doing here?" He asks me as he starts looking Maci up and down and she starts to move closer to me with discomfort.
I wanted to punch him so badly and so hard for eye fucking my girl, but I kept my cool.
"It's none of your business." I replied. Luckily, the valet pulled up and I got Maci into the car and shut her door.
"I'll be in touch." Ron grins at me then looks back at Maci.
I get into the car and start driving off, peeling a little bit out of the driveway and heading back towards the apartment.
"Who was that guy?" Maci asks.
"Just someone I used to know." I tell her.
She just nods her head and then looks out the window without saying anything for the rest of the car ride back to the apartment.
As soon as we got back and headed into the apartment, I felt like saying something. Ron had fucking ruined the evening and I badly want to explain to Maci about everything but she might think I'm just like her ex and I really do like her and want this to work. However with the silence she is giving me, I'm not sure she even wants that.
She turns and looks at me after I close and lock the door behind us.
"Are you involved with a gang or mafia or something?" She asks me.
"No. Not anymore. I used to be. But recently I got out." I confess a little easier than I thought.
"Okay." She says.
"How did you know?" I asked her.
"Because my father has brought guys like that over since I was a little girl. I know what they look like and he seems like he would fit the profile." She tells me.
I'm taken back a little bit as I notice at how observant she is and smart that she figured that out.
"I'm sorry." Was all I could think of telling her.
"For what?" She asks me.
"For not telling you who he was." I say.
"Just promise me you will never go back to that lifestyle." She says to me.
"I promise." I tell her as I slowly walk towards her and then cup the side of her face before leaning in to kiss her.
We end up going to sleep in my bed this time and kissing before falling asleep while watching a few episodes of the show, Chopped.
*****************************************
For the next couple of weeks, things have been going really good with me and Maci.
Never thought I would ever live to see the day when I would want to be with someone so badly.
Today, after working out at the gym, while I was walking outside, I saw a black limo pull up and the backseat dark tinted window roll down and saw it was Arthur.
"Get in." He tells me.
"No thanks. I'm good." I reply.
"Trust me, you want to get in. Otherwise I'd hate to see what would happen to your precious little girlfriend. Who my guy Ron here has taken a liking to." He says and right away I ball my hands into fists and clench my jaw before walking towards the car and getting in.
Right as soon as I get in, I am sitting across from both Arthur and Ron and the driver begins to drive away.
"So what is this about?" I ask through gritted teeth.
"It has been brought to my attention that your new little girlfriend knows a particular old client of mine that owes me a lot of money." He says.
"Who? She doesn't know many people." I mention.
"Oh but she does know this person, very well." He claims.
"Who?" I asked.
"Her father." He says to me. "You see, after Maci was born and her dad was a single parent, he was having financial issues and just like all desperate people, he asked for a loan. The only problem is, after he took my money, he took his daughter away and changed his identity. Then ironically, became a millionaire. However, he never paid me back. Now that his daughter is all grown up and is here...." He began to say the last part and I cut him off.
"Don't you fucking come near her or I swear I'll kill you." I threaten him.
He grins at me and Ron starts to laugh.
"Is that a threat?" Arthur asks me.
"It's a promise." I tell him.
"Then may I suggest an alternative. You instead of her?!" He suggests.
"What do you mean? I'm not working for you anymore." I remind him.
"Oh but you will. Otherwise, I would hate to see what happens to Maci." He grins again knowing damn well I would protect her.
Fuck! And I just promised her a couple of weeks ago I wouldn't go back to this lifestyle again. But would she understand if I did all of this to protect her?
Next chapter will be posted soon! :)
