Chapter 6: Shh... Second Death

Hiding behind the shadow is so exhausting, trying so hard to be unseen by all and trying so hard to not talk is just... Unbearable.

Oh well, but I guess all of them will soon find out, who exactly am I...

I will finally be seen then, and everyone will not be seeing HER anymore but ME! Only ME!

17th July 2010  1520hours

"Okay I am going to ask you kids again. Is there anybody that you all might have accidentally or deliberately angered?  This is serious, two of your friends had been killed we suspect the person is targeting at you all. Do you kids have any idea? Any idea at all?" The officer questioned once again.

Rachel fist her hands on her knee, shaking her head. Daniel and Kendall both said no solemnly while Marine was shaking in fear. Boris was sitting still, rubbing his hands across his face roughly. He had been doing that the moment he heard that Finn was dead...

Kate looked at all of them. She could not control her tears. The deaths of her two friends was just too overwhelming for her and the rest of them as well. She was so exhausted from all the bad night and all the crying. She laid her head down on Daniel's shoulder as he gently dabbed away her tears.

"Really noth..." "No sir, I don't think we need to repeat that again." Daniel interrupted. "All my friends are really tired already. Its too much for us to cope with.... Are we allowed to go back now?"

The officer stared at all of them grimly before nodding his head signalling them to go back. Everyone stood up really slowly dragging the feet in anxiety.

The moment everyone was out of the police station, Marine cried "I can't! I can't do this any longer! Let's just go to the police, show them all the stalking letters and asked them to send a few officers to protect us!"

"No! Are you crazy? Those letters aren't legit proves! They will only think someone is just pranking us! Or they will just think we are too sensitive! Please Marine, let's just stay calm, it might be just a coincidence..." Rachel said.

Marine looked frantic, her eyes gone wild. "Crazy? I am not crazy! I don't care! If I received one more of those fucking stalking letters, I am going to the police whether you guys agree or not! And I am telling them everything! Everything!"

With that she stormed off looking left and right in paranoia.

"So... What are we going to do?" Kate asked, hugging close to Daniel. Boris stared hard at them before looking at Kendall to see what he have to say. "I don't know.... Let's just go back home and rest first, We will meet up tomorrow to talk about it alright?" Kendall sighed.

He looked worn out and extremely weary. "Okay, I agree. We will meet up tomorrow at Kendall and Kate's house around 1pm?" Boris said, looking at all of them waiting for them to agree. Everyone just gave a reluctant nod before walking away on separate ways. "One of you tell Marine that okay?" Kate told Rachel and Boris before leaving.

2000hours

"How did he died?" Kate asked as she sleeps next to her brother.

"You don't need to know that Kathy..." Kendall replied, ruffling her hair.

"You realised I do need to know that big brother. He is my best friend or was...my best friend... ..." she sobbed. The mere thought of Finn dead was ... just so unreal. He was still alive a day ago... And now he is gone. Just like that...

Kendall shifted his position and hugged her sister in his arms. "This is going to be hard... He... I heard... The killer had him strapped in the chair naked... The killer cut him while he was conscious..."

"Cut him? Cut him...where?" Kate whispered, tightening her arms around her brother. "He... The killer cuts off his genitals and cut his arms, thighs and wrists..."

Kate took in a sharp breath before breaking down in tears.

18th July 2010  1215hours

"Kathy, Kathy. Kathy?" Kendall called, shaking Kate lightly. "I know you slept late last night but it's 12:15 already, they will reach here soon. You'd better get up and get ready."

Rubbing her eyes, Kate got up and started dressing.

1245hours

Daniel and Rachel reached their place first. Daniel brought breakfast for Kate while Rachel brought drinks for them. They were settled down in the living room. All of them were quiet and solemn. Kate was biting slowly not having much appetite the more she thought about Finn.

"Did you all know how he died?" Kate murmured.

Rachel looked between Daniel and Kendall before shaking her head. Daniel gave a tight nod while Kendall kept his silent. Boris arrived just that moment breaking them all away from the stillness. "Have you guys seen Marine?" was what Boris asked first.

"No... Why?" Rachel replied, glancing Kate sideways. "I don't know... I've been calling her for ages but she did not pick up, I went over to her house just now as well but her parents said she wasn't home since yesterday... I am afraid... I am afraid something bad might have happened to her..." Boris said.

Kate bit her inner cheeks and looked at Daniel her eyes getting watery. Rachel stared at Boris before saying "She might be at her cousin's house. She mentioned before when...Ariel got killed right? All you just relax and stay calm, there is nothing to worry about..." she finished off rather nervously.

"No Rachel, you don't understand it is not like Marine to not answer my call. She will always answer my call, whether we are fighting or not! Its so easy for you to say that, you are the only one without the letters! I am really starting to get skeptical about you." Boris shouted.

Kate looked at Rachel and saw her face changes.

It was from the usual Rachel to anger to hatred and back to her again. It changes so fast that Kate barely got a glimpse.

"If all of you are going to think of it this way, well go ahead, I won't mind. Because its not the truth. And all of you can go around and keep suspecting one another. This is exactly what the killer had in mind. He or she gets all of us doubting one another, separating us and then kill us individually. We can prevent this! We just have to trust one another and the killer won't have a chance with all of us together!"

Daniel and Kendall nodded in agreement while Boris rubbed his face. "No. No. I am not going to listen to you. All of you. This is just bullshit. I am going to look for Marine, alone. And whoever this killer is, he can just come at me! I am not afraid of him!" with that Boris left, slamming the door.

"So... What now?" Daniel asked glaring at the door.

Everyone looked at one another before slumping down the couch.
