"Welp, that ended quickly." Lance exclaimed, leaning back against his bed. His head fell to his side, Keith placing his shoulder underneath it.

"Kirby games are supposed to be quick, right?" Keith said, wondering. "How long did it take to beat?"

"It's only been two hours, I thought this was going to be good distraction." Lance lifted his head. "What else should we do? It's like 7."

"Ooh, can we hang out with Veronica and Mateo?" Keith said, staring at Lance with his excited eyes. He wouldn't admit it, but he quite liked the younger McClain's. Their youthful exuberance didn't annoy Keith as much as children usually do, so he was completely open to a few hugs and some jokes.

As if on cue, Veronica and Mateo McClain ran into their older brother's bedroom. The two hopped into the lap's of Keith and Lance, asking questions as quickly as possible.

"Hey, Lance, is Keith your boyfriend? My friend Carter has one too and she says she's more older than me that way?" Veronica's eyes stared into her older brother's, his face getting redder by the second.

"I think I'll leave now, see you tomorrow, Lance." Keith picked up Mateo, the little boy holding back tears as he did so. Keith walked out in an awkward silence, immediately regretting it.

Lance was shocked, but what confused him the most was that Keith didn't call him "loverboy." The pet name had become standard to him. When Keith was talking, no matter who else was there, his name was loverboy.

A few minutes later, after Veronica and Mateo had sensed the tension, Lance got a text from the one person he didn't want to talk to, which was just his luck.

He looked down, a direct message notification coming from the account owned by his ex.

@PrincessAllura: Hey, can we talk? I need closure.

a/n: short chapter but I'll write the next one soon. also, I'm going to turn allura into a terrible person. the past allura and lance relationship will probably be in the next chapter, which will probably be pretty heavy and full of potential triggers because I'll be going off my personal experience in an abusive relationship.
